Type-S will not switch out of park............HELP!!

HELP.............For some reason all of the sudden, my car will not switch out of park. I apply the brakes as usual and and it will not switch. I had to remove the little cover and press the manual release switch.

Does anybody have an idea about what the hell is going on? Has anyone else had this problem? Jens? Wayne?

Call roadside assistance. Maybe the battery is dead. My father's Larm VIII did the same thing and the batttery went to battery heaven.

yeah...i did. i talked to a buddy of mine and he said that what most likely happened is that a sensor fried. I am going to take it into acura tomorrow.

Do any of you guys think that it has anything to do with my aftermarket alarm?

I think it is the fuse that works the sensor for the brake. If the fuse is blown then it doesn't know you are pressing the break. It happened to me but luckily I was at the dealer and they fixed it. Sorry I don't know what fuse it is.

there is a little tab on the right of the shifter knob. it is the shift lock and you need to flip it up (with a screwdriver or something). then you have to press it down or something like that...look in your owners manual (i don't have mine with me) as it has the exact detail. better yet call Acura TLC; they are there for a purpose..

I know......that's how i have been driving all day.

Do you guys think it might be just a blown fuse?

The same thing happened to my girlfriend's Accord. The problem was the fuse for her brake light was blown. I bet if you have someone step on your brake pedal your brake light will not light up. If the ECU does not sense that you are pressing the brake it will not shift out of park. CHECK THE FUSE FOR YOUR BRAKE LIGHT.

Good Luck

It most likly is the fuse for the brake lights or the brake light switch itself. Does your horn work? I believe they are on the same circuit. It may be related to the alarm- if it is wired into the brake circuit. Check the 20 amp fuse #47 in the underhood fuse/relay box- that is probably where the problem is.

^^ Just resolved this issue--Brake Light Switch. For my 2001 CL S, it's Honda/Acura part# 36750-SEA-003. The Acura dealership wanted to charge me $60 for it while their sister Honda dealer sold it to me for $40. Thieves.
