turned down a drive.

My bosses wife asked me if I wanted to drive her 2 day old S 430 Benz. I was like HELL NO. She knows I'm a "car guy" and she (and my boss) are cool as shit. But fuck that. I couldn't imagine something happen to that car on my watch.

Never thought I'd turn down a offer like that.

My boss asked me if I wanted to drive his brand new 911 so I said ......OKEY!! It was sweet. I've also driven one of the owners 540i 6-speed and AMG CLK 55 which are both nice. I even let one of them drive my CL. BTW how do you guys think the CL 6-speed would do against the 540i 6-speed? I think they ran like 14.6 or something. It's a 1999 with 282 horses bit heavier than a CL. He's always talking smack so I told him I'd race him whenever he wants. Take those test drives. My friend won't drive my car because he says it's too new but I wish he would.

I don't think it would of been boring. That's a big ass V8, and the intakes on that thing are right in the grill. I also notice the cross drilled rotors on the front. There are other goodies too. Looks fun to me!

If it were an S500 I would have said to go for it, makes a big difference. Obviously, the S430 is still a $75k car so it is rather nice overall. But it just isn't that inspiring to drive imo. If you never drove an Sclass (W220 version) before, guess its better than nothing though.

Hit her up next time for a drive.

Same ballpark at least

Oh wait, if your car is a CLP then maybe not. A CLS would be ballpark, with the CLP slightly slower.

Nothing wrong with taking an S430 for a drive. They're awesome cars.

I wouldn't take someone else's 80K car for a spin... It'd make me antsy.

Well, if you consider 0-60 in 7.0+ sec hauling ass for a sedan (SUVs aside)....then ok.

But, the outside is boring no actually...BORING. I think that is what he meant.

I am curious about the CLK500. Boring (worse?) outside but sweet engine.

The "500" engines on MB are pretty shitty for how great everything else is, IMO. A 5.0L V8 should be making more (atleast horse) power than that, but the torque leaves you a happy driver. That, and the shitty low rev transmissions make me kinda mad, when seen on a 100k+ car, but yeah, it's all good.

Dad's got an S500, and I drive it weekly. I dig my car more just because it's mine.

I'm not hating, do you see what model he is referring too?

Hint, it's not a CLK430.

Oh and the CLK430 does not do 0-60 in less than 6sec, try 0-60 in like 6.4 (the CLK500 does 0-60 in 5.7-5.8sec).

Ok it is not less than 6 sec. from the factory but guys in the forum are doing that with drop in filters and pulleys.

according to Edmunds when they compared the clk to the CL-S, BMW 330 manual, Volvo C70....the clk 430 had the second fastest 0-60 with 6.1 and the BMW 5.9. It did the 1/4 in 14.5 and trapped at 97.5 fastest 1/4 speed cause the Bimmer was only 96.6 and the cl-s 95.4

I know that it doesnt compare to the M...not too many do but it holds its own.

They are all nice cars.

Scary thing is...the CLS was a "fast" car a year ago.
