So I see this white Eclipse with rims, lowered, fart pipe, a couple cars up and I catch up to him and we end up at a light. Even just normal driving, his car was burning a bunch of oil. It was nasty. I was in the lane two over from him just to avoid having to breathe his putrid exhaust.

Anyway, there's three lanes straight at this light and we're on the outside ones with some other car between us.

So then the light's green and I ease into it, but quickly floor first as I hear him just starting to go. I have about 4-5 cars on him already because his turbo must take a while to spool and his car's shit-slow without it.

I'm just pedal-to-the-metal through 2nd and most of 3rd before I left off. The whole time he was creeping up on me and when I let off at the top of 3rd he was about a car and a half back. That's pretty sad for a turbo'd Eclipse with a noisy BOV. He gained about 3 cars back from where he started... on a 15 second car.

Also he was laying down quit an impressive smokescreen.

Anyway another block or so and he ended up next to me again, on the other side, as we're rolling through some traffic (all of us going around 30mph although he's passing me slowly). I nodded at him as his car was passing mine and he took off like a nutcase, shooting all kinds of white (and some blueish) smoke from under his car and he cut through traffic like a retard for who-knows-what-reason.

Every car around was shaking their heads in disbelief like "wtf is that retard's problem". Me and this guy in a mildy-riced Prelude were next to each other when the Eclipse-tard took off and we exchanged a laugh about that.

Dude's gonna enjoy a new engine real soon if he keeps bouncing it off the rev limiter like that while pushing out a cloud of smoke.

Must be a nice mid-to-low 14 second car (lol) but a real piece of shit in the condition his was. Also must suck to only slowly pull on my car. I think mattg woulda raped him.

Driving like a retard in traffic defies comprehension though.

 

The kid probably was told everything was covered under warranty when he picked the car up

I dunno if it really counts as a kill since I did start first and he did slowly close the gap. I'd consider his car faster, even if it is about to blow up.

actually those things aren't really that fast. The numbers are like 0-60 in 6.7-6.9 range and the quarter in the low 15's. When i was at the track i ran against a gs-t(fwd not awd) with a rice rocket exhaust, intake and bov and destroyed him pretty badly. Nice kid but car was shitty. nice kill

 

Eclipse 1st-gen can be made pretty fast... or they can be pretty slow. DSM tuning is a whole different can of worms, with a bigger turbo, I think 12's should be no problem. So either be ready to get smoked, or roll him up and smoke him... it's tough to tell with those cars.

Although, if he's shooting white smoke (probably burning coolant, or running lean) and making all sorts of hideous noises, you can probably run with him until he explodes.

i saw this CRX start smoking once.. something wrong with the coolant.. and then he wanted to race my friend and his integra.. he raced him a couple times and the CRX lost horribly.. it was a sad site.. really-- but funny! :P

 

That is about right stock. Back about five years ago with just an intake and the upper IC pipe replacement I was able to run consistant 14.8's in a '96 GS-T. This was also early August on a late Friday afternoon at Atlanta Dragway.

I always intended on running in cooler weather but never got the chance.
