Turbo Kit Progress.... (pics)

Well, the first manifold has been completed. We will make a jig and fabricate the second one next. IC's are finishing up, so we'll be ready to make the IC piping soon. E-Manage is installed (thanks to Scalbert's awesome PnP harness - thanks Steve! ).

Next step is to install the 370cc squirters and tune a base-line map for NA.

This kit is a significant improvement over the previous kit - in terms of design and aesthetics. Both are of good quality, but this improves flow significantly (3" to 2.75" downpipe all the way to the cat!). The turbo is the biggest difference. The previous one had its maximum output at 5400 RPM; we all know that this motor makes a good 20% more power from 5400 - 7200 RPM - which is what this system will realize.

The current kit uses a GT35R ball-bearing turbo, the E-manage, upgraded injectors and 100% stainless-steel... so cost would be about $6500 for a complete kit.

A downgraded version using a different turbo and only a FMU running at most 6psi would be just under $5K.

Remember there will be TWO identical kits - Bluecls6's as well

It has the potential for 450whp with 100-octane, we shall see. That would be (given a modest 15% drivetrain loss) ~530hp at the crank. I'll be happy with 500 crank hp There are other issues to consider at this output level, so beyond the basic motor blowing up, I have to consider those as well.

On my setup, I have one of those QuikTime Electric Cutouts (you might notice the flange near the flex-pipe). It should offer the extra surge if I happen upon an Italian-type exotic.

This won't fit on the auto's. And I wouldn't recommend 350 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels on the auto-tranny either!!

If it makes 400+whp, then with slicks and some suspension work, it will hit mid 11's.

My last setup would have hit mid 12's on slicks (~350whp).

Question: This is for the 6-speed? You think it would hit 12's with just the turbo, or is that including headers/exaust/cai/suspension/ etc. etc? Just curious. Can you have a supercharger AND a turbo on at the same time, or does tis take the place of the S/C??

This is currently only for the 6-Speed. allmotor_2000 hit 12's before with his previous turbo kit which this one is much better. It does require all additional items such as the headers.

Yes, you can have both an SC and a turbo. It is not practically or economical but can and has been done. In this case he is just installing a turbo.

With 5AT upgrades it could be done. But knowing this crowd it may not be worthwhile investment.

Oh yeah... I don't want that all loud and obnoxious. In any case, I have an electric cutout on the downpipe for those 'special occasions'

For this kit, the Comptech headers are necessary (at least the upper portion) - but you can have a turbo-kit with the stock headers.
