Are TSX's that slow or....

Did he just shut it down early?

I was riding along to work last night (i work the late shift) and I was cruising along on the freeway. All of a sudden a TSX catches up to me and we are riding next to eatchother for a bit. A few glances at me later he jumps on it right when there is no traffic around and I follow. I started to slowly pass him at 80ish with my intake screaming by his open window and I was ahead by about 3-4 cars at around 100-105. We slowed down and went at it again this time I was about 4-5 cars ahead @ about 110.

I know the TSX's are a bit slower than my CL-P but I thought they were a little better up in the higher RPM range?

PS, I have intake and exhaust putting my slightly faster than stock (but not by much )

I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that the tsx has the same engine as an rsx-s. I'm sure they're a little lighter than the CL, but probably not by much. Even completely stock CL should have no problem shooting down a tsx. The tsx weighs right around 3300 lbs, the CL is right around 3500(i think), and the rsx is right around 2700. With the the same engine as the rsx(if i'm correct about that), the rsx is much quicker than the TSX since it's 500 lbs lighter. With this advantage, the RSX and the CL are better competitors than the CL and TSX since the TSX has a less power for almost the same weight as the CL.

Yeah... TSX's are pretty slow...

I thought they kinda die near the top though. Relatively high redline, but no torque up @ top.

Same engine as RSX? Wow, I'm a Mopar guy... and even I know that's wrong.

The RSX is powered by the K20 (A2 I believe)

The TSX is powered by the K24. Basically the same bottom end as 02+ CRV/03+Element/03+ 4 cyl Accord, but the TSX has the real VTEC head.

A guy I work with has a TSX (6M NAVI) and it is a nice car. Too bad it's slower than every V6 Accord on the lot.

Yup... I've had numerous ones as service loaners and they are slow. However, the fit/finish and driving experience is awesome!

Yeah I've had them as service loaners, and at least in auto form, they're horribly slow. I think my friend's 98 Camry four-cylinder feels just as powerful.

They're great cars, though.

Slow.. but you can't beat how stiff it feels in the corners. It just feels so nimble.

Any way I can get my CL to feel like a stock TSX?

Yea, its still sitting in my driveway. I was tearing it up coming home from work. Its very nimble. Its fast enough for me, but my CLS has spoiled me.

I have one today as a loaner. Of course is noticeably slower off the line, but at least it has some good pick up out on the highway. third gear runs out pretty nicely.

your WRONG mopar man, Civic Si's came with the k20 and rsx-s's come with the k24 which tsx's come with the k24 also

To all, i read this months Sport Compact Car, and a TSX with Skunk2 intkae exhaust and header beat a supercharged Nissan 350Z by 8 seconds in a road course so they arent entirely slow, my mom has a 60speed and its pretty quick i think.

and they may feel slow to everyone cuz TSX's are family cars and are supposed to be smoother and seem slower and a nicer ride than most, imo they arent as slow as what everyones saying.

I don't think Acura has any car that wouldn't feel slow compared to yours

Sorry to break it to you, but "mopar man" is right. The RSX's have K20 2.0 liter engines; it's just a coincidence that the RSX-S makes 200hp just like the 2.4L K24 TSX. And as of 2005, the RSX-S makes 210hp now.

TSX's have the K24, Hence their 2.4 l i-vtec engine 200 HP engine. Don't any of you go over and play with the TSX forumers ? I do
They really are very nicely put together cars esepcially withy some lowering, OEM kit, and nice wheels ?
Yes, a bit on the slow side, but man the interiors are sweet.

I love the LED style lighting. I actually like the seats in the TSX moreso than my CL.

Just for reference:

K20A - JDM Integra Type R motor - 220hp / 152 lb/ft
K20A1 - JDM Civic Type R - 215hp / ?? lb/ft
K20A2 - Euro Civic Type R & (02-04) RSX Type S - 200hp / 142 lb/ft
K20Z1 - RSX Type S - 210hp /
K20A3 - RSX (base) / Civic Si - 160hp / 132 lb/ft

K24A1 - CRV
K24A2 - TSX - 200hp / 166 lb/ft

They're all K-Series engines and they're all similar, but its like saying the J30 engines found in the Accord v6s are the "same engines" as the J32 engines found in the CL/TL and the same as the J35s found in the MDX /new RL.

I think right now, virtually all of Honda's production line engines save for the NSX and S2000 engines are either K series or J series motors. Probably saves them lots of money with interchangable parts and all.

I agree on the interior lighting, it makes the CL look like it is lit up by candles. But I hate the seats, its probably just me, but i always get out of them with a sore back from that lumbar support or whatever it is. It makes me wind up leaning forward. Its most likely my fault, but either way, same end result.
