Trying to install CAI, problem with coolant lines

Alright, bought an Injen intake a long time ago, decided to finally try putting it in. However the instructions say you have to connect the two coolant lines with a 1/4 inch coupler. Problem is I have no clue how to get the two hoses even close to each other. I'm sure I'm using the right coolant lines..

Sorry for the bad picture, hopefully someone can make it out

I need to connect the coolant line connected to that long pipe to the coolant line right near the opening for the throttle body. If I try to connect them from the front of the engine body there's a good 5-6 inches of space between the two. Should I connect them through the back? Can these two hoses even be connected?

Also, is there a way to be able to unplug the lower coolant line without having coolant spill out? Just tape it shut, maybe? :p

Alright nevermind, I just taped off the hose and fed it around to the other side

Now I just need to remove the PCV pipe that leads to the crankcase, but I can't get it to budge. Can anyone help?
