Trunk torsion bars

Hello all,

I have been looking for a set of the stronger torsion bars (Black in color as I've heard). I added a spoiler to my CLS and the original (gray) bars would not hold the truck open. The dealers don't sell them, and were I bought the wing, they don't have them either. Where I am, I haven't found any CL's in junk yards to look at. Thanks for the help.

try calling up junkyards, and then having them shipped to you

but yeah i tried to also get new ones for my tl, cause the black ones are a little on the weak side for me, but only available with a new spoiler though

those are fucking hard to take off the hinge.

I just changed the rear hinges on one of my cls and the bars are so tightly snapped in there, that to me it seems pretty much impossible to remove. i think you will have to buy the bars with the hinges already in place.

hinges with the torsion bars already installed, why....., just take a pair of channels locks to release the tension on them by removing them off the hinge (honda also has a special tool for it too, if you like to use that instead)

I bought the tool from a member on here and used that to remove/install the bars. The tool makes it much safer and easier. If you plan to DIY, make sure to take pics of the ends and the middle of the bars before you take them out, it took me forever to figure it out and the diagrams in the service manual werent clear enough.

Upgraded bars are black in color.

I got the part number from another thread started by fuzzy. the TL part number is in that thread and in the TL DIY thread too I think.

sucks you have to buy a tool that you probably will only use once.

these work for me , not quite as good as the actual tool, but still works though (and btw you will use the tool at least four times , once for the removal of each side, then the installation of each side) lol
