Trunk Leaking Problem

Hey what's up guys. As most of you probably know, I drive an 01' CL Type-S. I have a problem with water accumilating in my trunk. I have found that off to the right, in that little compartment with the tools in it is filled with water from time to time. Any idea where that would be coming from? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the black foamy weather stripping that lines the trunk opening for possible leaks.

After that I dunno.

I had a leak in my Integra after about 10 years that I discovered the same way -- there was water in the wheel well for the spare (the lowest point of the trunk space).

The weather stripping in one corner of the hatch lid was worn.

I would check out your weather stripping. Hopefully, the dealer can fix this under warranty as your car is not that old.

I had the same thing happen to me. After checking the obvious (all the visible weather stripping), it ended up being the caulk around my rear windshield. Apperantly there is a channel that runs across the roof that's suppose to drain into the trunk well, but since this area wasn't properly sealed, it ended up leaking down the hinges instead. I never noticed it until in the inside of my trunk started to rust.

I too had water leaking into my trunk through the rear window seal.

My trunk is leaking like crazy. I'm having the dealer fix it for me in a week. The water was accumulating in the right side compartment just like yours.

I didn't even notice the leak until someone sat in the back seat a week ago and their pants were wet from the seat. I was damn surprised that the small trunk leak made it to the back seat.

The black seal around the trunk looks fine so it must be something else.

Had mind at the dealer for the rattle coming from the rear shelve and they found that the right rear quarter window seal was improper and leaking, said it came that way from the factory. They sent it out to a glass shop who put in a new glass and seal.
This could very well be your problem. I never knew it was leaking. had they not removed the rear seat to fix the rattles, may not have found it until it was too late.

I saw mine last Thursday but was not sure where it was coming from also. By the time I had a chance to take a look it stopped raining. I hope to have it looked at next time it rains. The dealers have a way of sending the car back saying they couldn't recreate the problem. Trying to avoid that, will just drive in with water in my tool compartment and see what they say.

It seems like the dealership is handling this situation OK for me. They definitely saw how much water was in my trunk and the service manager told me they drained the spare tire well when I brought the car in for diagnosing the issue.

He also said they ordered me a new insert that goes over the spare tire since mine was ruined. (free of charge under warranty)

He then gave me an appointment to bring my car in for the day and they are giving me a loaner for the entire day. They've been very easy to deal with so far, I'm hoping for the best this time.

I've been taking my car to acura of Auburn (Auburn, MA) incase anyone is in the area looking for a good service center. I've taken my car there for everything and I haven't had a bad experience. (now that I've jinxed myself)
