transmission slipping-now what

a few months ago my tranny started to slip and i noticed it was low on fluid, so i filled it up and have been keeping an eye on it. Now it is starting to slip more and more, and i'm afraid i am gonna need to take it in. From what i have read, most likely i will need a new tranny? I have a 2001cl, with only about 70k miles but obviously more then the 93 months on the warranty, any chance they will cover it? Also, what about just taking it to Aamco or something, i'm sure the price would be a LOT less then acura. thanks

Take it to the dealer first, pay $100 diagnostic fee, then contact Acura customer service and talk with service manager (not the writer). Push for some goodwill coverage, be polite, even if you get 30% off take it. Depending where you live, Acura cost is about 3500 + 1000 for ECU (4500-5000 total), Aamco will charge you ~$2500 without ECU. Acura rebuild will be of better quality and will have 3 year /36 month warranty. read tranny failure thread. your choices depend on how long you want to keep the car and what help you get from Acura.

Already been said but check with Acura for any possible goodwill before you do anything else. It seems to be hit or miss with them so you just never know what they might do for you.

from what i read i would just do the odyssey/ tl trans because its most likely won't fail again like the cl trannies, and it will probally be cheaper then acura or aamco if you look hard enough
