Dam CL curse got me, should have stayed in my 3.5er Legend but nah i wanted more luxury. I wish, anyway. Now I'm trying to figure out whats next, I want to stay in the Acura family since the cars i want i cant afford right now (2012 Nissan GTR, 2012 Infinti M57). So i am looking at a 2010 TL SH-AWD and started wondering does this model have tranny issues as well or some kind of issues that might make me change my thoughts on purchasing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

The bulk of the transmission issues come from the 5AT used by Honda and Acura between 2000 - 2003. By 2004, the issues were mainly resolved, but still had scattered incidents. By 2005 the 5AT is solid.

Not sure when Acura started putting the 6AT in the TL. I haven't heard any problems with those but I haven't followed Acura news very closely recently.

 

Dude just keep the car and throw a new tranny in it. I mean your talkin about 20k price jump if you were to move into a new tl. Unless money isnt a issue, get a new tl.

 

yea man just get it rebuilt. get the hole tapped into it that allows more fluid to travel to the clutchpack. put cooler on and by upgraded clutches.. and it won't happen again.

aside from the trans the car is rock solid allaround IMHO

 

^ Thats what i'm going to end up doing for now, MY cl is mint besides the trans and i couldnt take what they were offering for it and live with it. where can i get the upggraded clutchpacks & cooler from? That 2010 TL is real nice to sit n and drive, got real spoiled during those test drives. that was one car i know i said about 2 years ago was the most ugly car ever produced but a bad transmission and sweet test drive in SH-AWD changed my perception real quick.

About to do that ODY swap, hopefully everything goes as planeed or close to it, once it done i'm going to keep it about 3 months and trade it in on a 2010 TL SH-AWD, loved that ride and cant get it out of my head or heart.

Good for you man , but they won't give you crap for the CL . local toyota dealership quoted me 3500 .

 

Thats around the price they wanted to give me with a bad tranny, my cl pretty much stock and imaculate, so i think i would get more than that.
