exhaust, resonator delete? or no muffler?

does anyone have clips of their cl-s with no resonator or no mufflers just straight to tips? or both off (resonator and both mufflers)?
im looking to do just a mini exhaust work on the car, im trying to get it done without installing anything else but maybe besides just tips. thanks

There is a huuuuuuuge thread on mid-muffler removal, with mixed reviews from a lot of people, recently Fluffly and someone else had theirs taken out and say it sounds good.

if your curious, just unbolt your mufflers. its just 2 15mm bolts each. i unbolted one of my mufflers to test the sound.
kinda raspy and droney. but i expected that.

cltypeSlow has "dumps" on his CL-S. PM him and ask him about his set up. I've hear them in person and they sound similar to a V8.

Ok I love the of the mid muffler removal, and yes there is only one I had a local guy weld mine in for $50 or somthing like that. The closest thing it sounds like is a G35 coupe( but when its cold it kinda sounds like an out board 15hp motor on my tin boat). The rasp people talk about between 2-3k rmp is what I love. people say it makes it on the highway but its not really true it only makes the noise when you have your foot on the gas a little.

As far as the muffler removal goes I wouldnt do it, I would go with magniflow mufflers I think the part number was 14853??

This is the best for a growl but im cheap so im sticking with the midmuffler removal this year next year im going with the magniflow mufflers.

I took off the midmuffler there in no resonator

I dont why people call it a midmuffler I believe it is called a resonator, but I dont know Im thinking people call it amid muffler because it kinda of looks more like a muffler than a resonator

yea, i know.

btw, im running one muffler right now. i just unbolted the other one off and left a big ass outlet in the piping. i can feel a loss of backpressure/torque though.

Yeah a free flowing exhaust is good on lets say my 80 trans am with a 400 big block and solid roller rocker and upgrade valve springs

But on alot of hondas we need the back pressure to close the valves or you will start puffing black smoke after awhile!! thats why you always see those honda civics gunin it and a cloud of black smoke comes out there "free flowing exhaust"

um, i'm pretty sure that valve springs close the valves. and they usually blow out black smoke from running rich.

IMO the valve springs on hondas do not work properly

so what you r saying is that because they put a big muffler on a honda they run rich ??

Just because honda makes a valve spring and puts it on a car does not mean that when you start modifying other components that were original equipment it is going to work properly

honda's NEED back pressure to run properly

hmm, that would explain the smoke i see. also when i gun it on the freeway (VTEC), car smells bad, like the classic rotten eggs. im guessing since there is no backpressure, the exhaust gases are flying past the cat and therefore makes the car smell.

i miss my 232 lb-ft of torque. i feel like i have 132 now. im currently in the process of making a minor mod so i get the noise of my single muff without loosing so much backpressure.

Backpressure is good for NA cars. and acura/hondas need every bit of torque we can get. backpressure=torque.

The only component mod that will effect valve springs will be the cam shafts or rockers.

honda's NEED back pressure to run properly
May be, but it's not due to valve springs.

its decent not too loud, ill load a vid asap, but my front bumper broke while leavin the mufflers shop.
what happened was my car was on the lift, the owner lowers the lift and makes me back it out of his shop, so while i was backing up, my front bumper caught the lift ramps and tore off my front bumper.(bcoz after the lift ramp there is another set of ramp that goes up outwards t the streets and out of his shop).
so he is getting me a new front bumper and painted. and i guess i dont have to pay, coz he didnt ask me any money before i left and him ordering it and getting the paintcode. he told me he'll call me as soon as he gets it.
today was not good at all, then i hit a bump that blew off my tires i just bought the other night.

I have straight pipes with a magnaflow resonator. I deleted the mid muffler and 2 rear mufflers. I have to disagree with the power. Not having 3 restricting mufflers on has given the car a very responsive throttle with good pull down at 2500 rpm
