Um, how do you supose the tranny cooler will pull heat from the clutch packs if there is "zero oil lubricating them". Not going to happen man.

Besides I thought you said that Jhon at level10 or what ever it is, has it all figured out and the problem is not oil lubricating the clutch packs, but in stead the fault lies in the line pressure. So why worry about oil lubrication?

Dude you are lying to yourself to justify the rebuild.

I compleatly understand if thats all you can afford, but don't act like you found a miricle fix that thousands of people have not been able to find in the last 10 years.

And yes, you said the same thing about your last build! Look where you're at now.

you guys are too much.

I got you saying one thing, level ten another, and my mechanic another.

1 2 3.

that's 3 different opinions, and i'm only one person. so 2/3 of you aren't going to agree.

anyways...I'm going boatin.

this post illustrates that you clearly have no idea how these transmission things work.

Ever since I got the tranny changed @ 65Ks (2007).... I haven't done anything with it.... No tranny oil changes or anything...

I religiously do get my engine oil changed every 3000 miles.. but never thought about tranny care...

Are transmission places (other than NVA) able to do the Odyssey swap?

Its a relatively straight forward swap. They just need to drill some holes in the tranny housing.

i had mine done at a local transmission shop. Dont let them try to con you though. All they need to do is swap over components and MAYBE drill and tap the bosses for them. Mine had to be drilled and tapped so it was an extra $75 for labor. I put an 05 Oddy trans in my 01 CL-S. Works fine. Altogether it cost me about $2000. They also had to replace the trans mounts since they were shot.

01clsprogression, i'm saying this with no interest in what you do ...or don't do. If you really can't go the 6-speed route,

ordered the rebuild kit from level ten. it's on a plane already.

6 speed is going to be the project down the road. i'm going to be buying parts over the next year, or 2 so if/when it fails I got everything there set to swap over.

so you can all stop dwelling on this thread. plan is already in motion

P.S i will never sell this car.

Hell i may just buy a 6speed cl-s instead of gathering parts. then i could have one to RIP on, and the other for daily driving. But i'm sure you fellas will disagree with me again on that decision as well

stop driving like a ricer, it might make your tranny last longer.

why keep re-buildling an auto thats known to fail over and over? by now you could have done the 6 speed swap.

on the flip side, if you saved money instead of buying ricey shit like a volt gauge and whatever pointless gauge for your car, it might not be so hard on your wallet.

Did he also say that he was drag racing it for some time? Bad idea, as weak as these trannys flooring your car will definitely make your tranny fail.

I think it's a great idea to buy a 6 speed, 1 for fun and 1 for DD duties. Its simpler than swapping and you have no downtime waiting to complete the swap.

after looking further at the package... the clutches are made by altousa.com

they look pretty good after going on their site.

so i dropped off the kit to my mechanic at the DLR he works at. he showed me an mdx he's building there. showed me brand new oem clutches. they are GARBAGE. no wonder they fail. the clutch material is patched on which ends up breaking off, very poor design.

the ones in the kit I go were one piece encompassing the entire clutch surface. plus it was obviously put on much much better.

same guy who did it before. but this time for cheaper since he's doing it again and feel bad for me.

with the better parts and cooler from the beginning this time and me not racing the car around.. it'll be good for 100000kms is my estimate. that's 3 years.. by then many things will be different

Hopefully with the upgraded clutch material and less aggressive driving the clutches will last longer than we expect, but in the end the design flaw is still present and future failure is imminent. Gives u time to go find that 6 speed though

Don't you think you should get more than three years out of the tranny considering everything you put into this?

well obviously I am hoping this will fix the issue for the unforseen future, but I can only anticipate 100000kms realistically.

like I said the stock clutches are just pathetic... no disrespect to anyone, but having both in my hands comparing the two it's quite obvious how much stronger and rezilliant these alto clutches are.

My guess is they will actually engage firmer than the oem ones also, thus I should go a tad bit faster. but who knows.

All I care about is getting my baby back.

Alright, well I hope it works out well for you. tbh despite whatever premonitions there might be, it'd be nice to know there's another good solution for those of us who have automatics.

I mean, if 6 speeds were so easily available all over the country, I know the 5ATs around here would be few and far between.

You have had the rebuild done for awhile now.
How does your trans feel compared to the stock rebuild.
Any signs of slipping yet ?

not at all man, car feels amazing still with nothing my anal self can complain about.

All that's bothering me right now is I lowered the car and it's still out of spec on the drivers side camber by +0.2 and the caster was not touched and it's at 2.6 and 1.8 and the stock caster should be 2 degrees positive..... but w/e i will go somewhere that knows what they are doing to get that done.

all is well.
