Tranny problem or not?

As I was driving my slush box at a steady 35 mph the RPM's kept Fluctuating between, 1500 and 1700 and the car felt a little jerky. It went up and down between these a half dozen times or so until I accelerated. I experinced this once before.

Is this the natorious torque converter doing it's thing, or possibly the start of a Transmission problem? I've only got 4200 miles on the car.

Thanks for your insight.

Sounds like the torque convertor to me... but it's tough to say b/c there are too many variables involved. Was the road flat? What gear were you in? Sounds to my like the RPMs were fluctuating b/c they were so low and the TC was just locking and unlocking. Almost like you were at an in-between stage.

Have you noticed any rough shifting in general... like when accelerating? That would be more or an indicator of a failure.

I was driving on a straight road. When this happend I quickly put it into SS mode and saw that I was in 4th gear. I only use 93 octane.

I use the gate shift for the past 10,000 miles or so:
D3 till I well over 40-45 mph
D4 till 65 mph, then D5.
D4 & D5 are your Torque converter gears. Stay away from them, because they overwork this tranny, so I've been told.
57,000 miles and going strong.....Knock on wood.......

First drive of the day: drive in D4 and not over 40-45 mph for the first mile, then all fluids are up to temp and ready for Hard WOT's....
