finally got my cai

This weekend I picked up an AEM CAI. Installation instructions sucked IMO. I dont know much about engines other than the basics, stupid me. Anyway, after I looked at it for about 10minutes and figured out what went where, it was easy. I did find one thing odd, there was a small, 7-9inch brace that went from where the lower bolt on the stock air box went to the fender wall that had to be removed. I noticed nowhere in the instructions to do this but It was the only way to get the pipe to fit. Anyone else run into this (im sure you did)? What is that piece for?

Anyway, got it in after about 45minutes or so and its great. I love the fact that the sound doesnt really change in regular driving but when you get on it, it lets you know, especially above 5k. Not really sure if there is much of a performance change, but i'm sure there is a slight addition, even if its just a mental performance gain because of the sound.

Just wanted to share .......

ive been hearing a lot of people talking about hissing... i have not noticed any substantial hissing. when i first start it up i hear it for about 3 seconds (in the garage mind you) and then it isnt noticeable unless im under the bumper with my head next to the filter. then when i shut it down i hear one last hiss. takes all of a second.

Mine hisses a lot when the engine is cold. Not just while I'm letting it idle, but after I let it warm up a bit, when I start to drive it hisses loudly. But it goes away when the engine gets to normal operating temps.

You'll notice the hissing more when the AC is on, & when the car is cold.

When I had mine installed, it used to make an awful humming noise. I got rid of it because it was soooo loud.

I took my bypass off, but it didn't seem to change anything.
