Tranny going - should I remove CAI?

Hi All,

Note I am probably going to remove my Intake anyway. I -think- I have all the original parts, anyway. Hell, It's probably time for me to clean the filter anyway....

However, I have had my intake on since July 2001.
So the dealer knows it's been on there forever, and in fact they made notes on my service record last time about how it isn't installed right. (He noticed the torn up hoodliner).

So It seems to me that since it says on my service record that I've had an intake, it shouldn't really matter whether or not it is still on when I complain about my tranny, right?

I assume that they will scan my service record anyway, for previous problems, although I talked to someone else who doesn't think they will? I'm just curious what mass opinion is.

Leave it on or it might look like you're hiding something else.
They're gonna pull your service history when it's in for repair anyway.

Agreed, you don't want to look like your trying to hide the fact that you once had one, to which they probably know, but it is TOTALLY un-related to what's going on with your Transmission. They know that, you know it, we all know it.

I'd bet your CAR on it that it won't matter a LICK !

nah, leave it on. LMFAO 10hp gain breaks transmission. How sad if they did try doing that.

Hell, I have my CLS at the dealership now. AEM CAI, and CT headers on it. Tranny #3. My dealership is mod friendly though

Is there a way to check if a CAI is totally installed correctly? I especially mean with the hose installs that replaced the stock factory ones. I always think I may have done something wrong, even though it looks like I did everything right

Well, as long as it doesn't move or wobble about, it should be fine. Also, it shouldn't be scratching up your hoodliner.

lol, what kind of idiot thinks they can run a CL-S with a 5-10 hp gain without something breaking! Our stock transmission isn't built to handle that kind of power
