Tranny Finially Died :(

I started to have problems at 18K. The tranny began to slip when I gunned it. Shifting from D5 to D3 was a problem. The tranny would slip all the way to red line then after I eased up off the gas it would finally shift to D3. When the problem got worse. Traveling on I-95, doing 45-50 the tranny would slip into D2 and MAN it felt like I hit someone the way the car slow down. It would shift and slow down so fast that the tires would chirp. And TG that there was no one behind me or they would have probably have rear-ended me. Well that happened twice yesterday, and today five times, all on the freeway.
So to make a long story short, I pulled into Checkers got some food and as I was leaving with no 'bang' or 'ping' my lights came on and the car wouldn't shift out of D2. Well at least the car was still driveable, I didn't know the real extent of the dammage until I tried to reverse into my friends parking space, no reverse .
I'm at 19,200 and in need of my first replacement tranny. So how long do I have to wait to get a back order tranny and for the dealer to install a new one?

And I thought the dead tranny posts might die down for a while. Guess I was right the first time, eventually, all CL-S trannies will take a shit, it's just a matter of time.

this sounds like the kind of thing that may turn these tranny related "issues" into an honest-to-god, safety-related, nhtsa-mandated recall.

I had a manual tranny frag in my old car while I was tooling down the highway at about 80 mph. the front wheels locked immediately, everything I had packed in the car (books, dishes, clothes, greyhound, beagle) for the trip back to school tried to come into the front seat with me. scary stuff. fortunately no one was following me at the time, as they wouldn't have had much time to react without the brake lights telling them to stop.

ugh.....this is ridiculous.....if Acura doesn't do SOMETHING, i'm going to trade my car in for the 6speed when it comes out. How can anybody deny that there isn't SOMETHING going on here? I'll take the financial hit because I don't want the doubt of the tranny going hanging over my head. Hopefully the 6speed won't have this problem.
