Trade for my CL-S
i was at my friends dealer lot yesterday and i saw this phat Black on Black 2003 Jaguar S-Type, fully loaded with navi, xeons, sport package. What u guys think of these cars, are they any good?
They are actually pretty cheap... Woman at work that I goto lunch with on fridays has a 2001 S-type (no navi or sport), that was originally a 40K car (msrp), that she picked up in 2003 for mid 20's w/ 20something K miles on...
I like 'em, but it think they are a little "old" for me... Woman at work is in her 50's...
I'll tell you one thing tho', the Jaguar dealer treats her VERY well... puts the service from acura to shame...

Thats the S-Type
I would be careful, they are not the most dependable vehicles.
to add to my earlier post.. I leased an 04 s type jag.. 6 cyl.. I leased because of the decline in resale value.. It was not near as responsive as the cls i own now or even my fx35 that is now my daily driver.. cls is my fun car.. But, you still get the jag interior and all the other,, i guess, eccentricities that you would expect from a jag.. But, dont compare it to a cls,, two different worlds.. Loved it for two years tho!!

Having said that, I would never trade an Acura for a Jaguar - EVER. The reliability, projected resale, etc. all suck.

Same fawking shit... LOL, I would not trade the CLS for One
"S-Type isn't all wheel drive".............. forget it then
I agree with clsuperhero keep the cl and wait for the g35 sport coupe. My friend's father has one and that shit is dope. If you're looking for something in awd, why not look at audi a4 ultra sports?
yeah, i did more research and u guys are right, the jag isnt all that, just glamor and looks but engine wise its horrible, i dunno what i am gonna do but a change is soon in the making, my lil brother is gonna take over CL-S and i might just go get my dream car, a Lexus SC430, doin pretty cheap in the auction for like maybe $26K with 60k
The lexus sc430 is a good choice. Very good realible, resale value, and looks. Basically, a win win win situation. Expensive though, usually used ones are around 50, 000. but if you can get one at an auction for 26,000 then you should snag it.
S-TYpes are money
The V8 is out of this world and it has a VERY smooth ride. The acceleration puts the CL to shame and the RWD is a nice touch. Thing whips some mad donuts too if u turn off traction, plus its got a little more 'exotic' appeal than Acura. They are nice cars and look sick with 20z

Jag or ?????
I can say that before I purchased my 04 TL (and sold it because of circumstances and eventually ended up with 01 CLS), I was really looking at also a 01 4.0 S type Jag and 01 E430 Benz. All 3 were nice cars, but the reliability factor was a main reason I chose Acura. The S type, although inheriting improved reliability via merge with Ford, was still well below industry average in reliability according to consumer reports, jd power, etc. I did love the interior of the car, especially the albino leather in the one I looked at and the wood touches. The car "feels expensive" I could say, when in it.
For HellaShookOne, unless you tested the new 4.2S type, this car is not any quicker (if so negligably) than the new TL, CLS, or 01 E430, although it has more torque than the v6's so it feels better. Plus, the more I look at the S type between the headlights and the taillights, it reminds me of a ford taurus or something similar. For the Mercedes, it felt just as luxurious as the Jag if not more so, while being more sporty as well. There was a certain driving dynamic that just cannot be explained (and not "woohoo a MB", but the way it drove so smooth and nice). I would have bought that, but it also did not fair any better than middle of the pack for reliability. The compromise was the TL, and I don't say compromise in a bad way. Of course this is my opinion, but if you are deciding between as S type and a CLS, stick with the CLS. If you want something else, the Lexus is a very nice luxurious car that will be reliable, but if you are looking sport as well, Lexus as a whole definitely has a bias for luxury over performance/sport.

Damn 5 minutes!
Missed the edit time again...the other half of the reliability coin is luxury cars are expensive to maintain. The Jag would most likely have more problems than Acura/Lexus/Infiniti cars, while costing as much if not more to fix as well. This may have something to do with resale value also, as Honda/Acura are one of the most reliable makes and "coincidentally" have some of the highest resale value around. Did not mention before, I drove the G35 sedan and that drove great, but not luxurious enough compared to the TL, and luxury was high on my list. So it all depends on what is on top of your list....

If I were you I'd save up a little bit more and hold out for a G35 coupe if you don't mind the backseat space
