TPS Sensor

Is the TPS sensor on the Throttle body replaceable or is it riveted to the TB?

I don't remember what someone had told me in another post, all i do remember is them mentioning that King motorsports MAY be able to replace it.

Also, what are the signs of a TPS sensor going bad? What is a way to check for a bad TPS sensor?

check TPS voltage, and you cannot purchase the TPS separate, only way to get it from the dealer is to buy the whole throttle body.

Is there information in the Helm's manual on how to check the TPS voltage?

How much does the whole throttle body run?

voltage should run ~.45v closed

open at ~4.5-5.0

Is there a CEL. You can just replace it but I have yet to find the right TPS that will work. Jorge at Maxbore might have one. Give that a shot.

lol....mines went last week this same time. Took it to a shop monday and they called the dealer who said it they have to buy a whole new throttle body for like $400 bucks. The dudes at the shop thankfully were a little expreinced in hondas so they said they could pull a sensor of a Integra i think and rig it to work on my car. So they did that and everything worked perfect. Ened up paying $210 for everything. So screw a whole new throttle body, if u can get one off an integra and install it yourself then you will save a lot more than i did.

first of all, i never let the dealer touch my car. i do all my own work, or have my personal mechanic do it since he will install parts that i purchase.

second, you are telling the guy he will save a lot of money by buying an integra TPS, and i was pointing out that the difference was roughly $50 for a brand new one with all new sensors.

Thanks for the info bud, I looked it up on that site, and it didn't list a part #

The only reason I ask, is beacuse is, are the throttle bodies for the 6mt the same as the TB for the 5at? I thought they were different because of VSA? Am I way off here?

Alright so I looked up the sensor in my helms manual, I found the location where the harness plugs in to get the values for the TP Sensor.

Do I literally just stick in voltmeter leads into the correct slots to read the voltage?

Sorry for the questions, this is all new to me.

the VSA throttle body for the autos is an entirely separate unit, here is the part number for the regular throttle body:
16400-PGE-A12

Yes in most cases you stick the multi-meter into where the wires go into the unit.

I'd almost bet this would work. you just drill out the goofy rivets and screw this one in. volts are volts. although our car isn't listed doesn't mean this one won't work. Look at the mugen cooling mods for the prelude that works on our cars. but you never know.

You could have tried this, i would risk 80.00 to save 400.

^^^ where do you get $400 from? An OEM throttle body is about $200 if i recall from one of the oem part vendors on the net.

that is a nice find though. What is the voltage rating on it? Does the high and low match with the OEM TPS sensor?

If you go to autozone or something.... they will hook it up to your OBD 2 and it will tell you what the volts are... That is what I did. My volts are .07. I am trying to find a sensor from omnipower. Good luck-

^^^ $99

a brand new TB costs $200. I'd rather just buy a new TB for $200 if I'm spending $99 on just the TPS sensor
