TPS help!

I found out that my check engine light was the TPS. I just need to know how to set it to spec. I have my TPS rivets drilled out so I can adjust it if anyone was going to wonder how I was going to adjust it. The check engine light was for voltage high? I read somewhere about getting a voltmeter and checking it at closed and WOT?

I set it as close to .5V and it didn't work. I gave .45V a try and it worked better but when I took it on a test drive...... from third gear pull the engine surged and check engine light came on at 5500rpm. Scanned the code and came up as P0123 TPS Circuit High Input. Anyone have an idea what to do? I'm going to check the voltage when I get off today.

Sounds like you will need to buy a new TB since you cant buy just the sensor.

you can usually find them in junkyards for about 150, the MAP is also included in the TB.

well, the back adjustment screw was off by a bit so I had to line it up with the plate. and of course when you line that up it adjusts the TPS.

Maybe you need to perform the idle learn procedure

so I ended up setting the voltage to .42 and it ran fine for a while untill tonight. From about 3k I went WOT and when it hit 6K it did it again. Check engine light. Its probably going to be the same code P0123.

Am I seriously going to need to fork out $300 on a brand new Throttle body? All the junk yards around here don't have newer cars. No one in the NoVA area has a 6speed I can check?

On another note, when I came to a stop it was Idleing at about 1200.

straight from the electrical manual:
fully open: about 4.8 V
full closed: about 0.5 V

did you try .55?

if you messed with the screw, you probably screwed it up. set the voltage to as close to 0.5 and adjust the screw until it idles at the standard spec:
Idle speed with headlights and radiator fans off:
M/T (in Neutral): 760+/-50rpm
A/T (in neutral or park): 750+/-50rpm

I installed my headers yesterday and played with it again. It seems like at .50V the engine light kicks on quicker. I'll try .55v. When I adjust it at idle, doesn't the voltage when fully open drop so it equals a total of 5 volts with idle voltage?

I didn't adjust the idle bleed screw, just the stop but I did it because there was a small gap. Gap as in if I hit the gas a bit the TB doesnt open untill the rotor hits the stop. So I lined it up flush so when I hit the gas the TB opens.

those are the specs straight from the official electrical and repair manual. if their not working for you then there is probably something wrong with your TP sensor.
