149 limit regardless of what the speedo says. It's built into the ECU. No easy way to remove it.
There are ways around it, but your car won't run right if you did it.

must be our tire size, I run a 225/45/18, interesting fact, the governor must be RPM related rather than MPH, because my car will never go over the 150mph and yours will, my RPM's are right around 6750-7000rpm's

Again, why do you need to go that fast? You're 30, don't you have a wife and kids? Whats gonna happen to them if you hit something at 150?

some people DO race their cars on circuit tracks where you can sit at top speed for a good 5-8 seconds, why not let the motor go as far as it can? some people sail, some people paint. others, like most on this forum, like the adrenaline of speed regardless of a list of dangers. if you are not one of those people, then let it go and let people "kill themselves"

Because some need to! No need to make a stink about it. I need to on occasion and it would be nice to have it removed.

That would have to be one big ass straight-away for a CLS to sit at top speed for 8 seconds. I wish I've got a six mile stretch with a small bend at 1.5 miles, at work and I don't think I could get to top speed in time.

I would not mind having it removed, but I'd rather raise the rev limiter a bit instead.

I also checked my speed with a radar gun and GPS and my speedo is off by 4.5 to 5 mph over a 110 mph. Right around 80 its off by 3.5 to 4 mph. Soeven though I've seen 155 on the speedo, I was likely at 149.

I was thinking the same thing....

I have a daughter, and wouldnt dare chance leaving her fatherless.... Even in my teens and early 20s I didnt go that fast... However there is a stretch of highway in mid texas towards san angelo that is known for top-end motor trials....

I still get nervous at 85mph.

THATS REALLY FRIKKEN QUICK! Are you sure about that 3/4 mile. So your saying your car can do 150 mph in 1 mile? Cause you can hit about 99 MPH in the first 1/4.

I'd like to see that.

I've hit 148 on mine but ran out of space. would love to hit 150.

y?

Its all about need for speed for me.

I only do it when there's no one else in the way. and when its a straight way, no hills.
I drive pretty safe and have a very good control over it, so I trust myself when I do things like these.

And (possibly) others.

I've been to 140 many times on public roads. It's not fun. The last time pretty much stopped me from going over 110mph.

If the OP does in fact race his car at a track and feels the speed limiter impedes his control, than more power to him. But bring a car that's almost two tons up to 150mph on public roads = not smart.

And instead of thinking about how long of a straight it would take to reach that speed, why not think about how much space you need to stop?

above 155 or so that there car gets really light......that speed govenor is there to keep the car from going airborne.................and unless you do something to resolve the car becoming a wing issue, leave it alone.......
