I have only got my car up to 145(with some power left). But when car and driver did their piece on the car they got it 149 or 159. I'm sure that thier's lots of guys here that have topped it out, though.

Are we talking about a stock CL-S right? Thier aren't too many of those running around this site.

'03 CL-S w/ 6 speed & nav
CT exhaust
CT sway bars
CT springs
Neuspeed short shifter
Neuspeed front strut brace
AEM underdrive pulleys
AEM cold air intake
Debadged rear
Momo racing pedals
18'' Motegi wheels w/ 235/ 40 yokes
35% tint
2 10'' punch subwoofers & RF amp w/ custom box in the trunk

Still to come:
magnaflow cat
apex vtec controller
evolution door sills

Higher than I would care to reasonably take it. But it is limited and the ECU will shut you down at the fore mentioned 148.

Last weekend when we were testing the IC my father-in-law, who was driving, go on it in fifth. It was pulling well, climbing quickly, past the 125 mark when he shut down.

The car is ECU limited to 150mph because the tires that come with the car are Z-Rated tires, rated to run at 150mph. However, some members here have gotten the car higher than 150mph by going down a hill.

I believe the drag co-efficient becomes a problem on the car around 150mph too, so you probably can't get much faster than 150, even on a downhill.

You're right the Michelein MXM4's that come with the TL-S/CL-S are actually V rated (up to 149mph), but I think Z rated is supposed to be 149+ mph, while Y rated is up to 186mph... At least according to tirerack.com

So doesnt hondata take the governer off? I know on my jetta our upgraded "chip" for the ecu raises the boost from 11/12 - 22/23ish, adjusts the timing and removes the governer

Up until a week ago, I only had my CLS 6MT to 110. Last weekend hit about 125. But car just wanted to keep going. Oh, should have mentioned, my 6MT is S/C'd. I may try to push it even higher, but it's hard to find a stretch of road where I live to do it safely and not get my car impounded.

There is no Hondata for our cars, or at least I don't know of one. Unichip is the first company to make an ECU piggyback for our cars I believe, and its only for the Automatics (no 6spd yet). Not sure if it removes the governer, but I'm not sure if it really makes a difference if it did or not cuz of the drag co-efficient on our cars (hard to get the car to go much past 150 or so due to aerodynamics w/o a lot more horsepower).

i haven't took my 2003 cls6 over 140 yet but my 2001 cls, i got it to 152 and never felt the cut off... must have been real close though.
The car was very stable, only thing is over 140, the air really starts getting into the windows so it's a bit more scary

no i took the pic while driving, I live in missouri and i took the pic late one night coming back the St. Louis, mo to Kansas City, MO, It doesn't take that long to get to that speed, but you just run out of room really really quick, the car is deasent at those speeds, so i took the pic on a very open part of the highway!

I have a stock 6 speed cls and I have taken it to 147mph one time that was the fastest I have taken it up... But it was only at 5300 rpm's, I am not sure where the governer is but the car was still pulling but I had to slow down for my exit comming up! I have taken the car to 140, 142, 143 in 5th gear at three different times. I went to the track 2 weeks ago and I ran a unbelievable time of 14.33 @97 mph's ...

Will it even hit top speed in 6th? Seems like 5th would be the fastest gear.

LOL, you can fall asleep from 125+ MPH if you have the 5AT. The car accelerates like crap with the two overdrive gears. I haven't driven a 6 speed that fast.

I bet scalberts car pulls good to 148 though.

Not likely, at least not without quite a bit more power and a death wish. Theoretical top speed in 6th is about 206 MPH. I would not want to be driving this car anywhere near the speed.

I have pinned the speedo so i dont think its governed at 148 must be the blower an acura mechanic told me its governed at the rev limiter not the speed and with the comptech drop and sways shes very stable just takes balls to do it.and it was very late no cars around.but i wont do that again unless i ship the car to germany lol.oh and it pulls very hard in 6th gear with a little help from zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I would hate to hit the rev limiter in 6th. I think it would be a horrific feeling at that speed, not to mention very dangerous and very bad for the engine. But I can see how a S/C'd 6MT could hit the rev limiter in sixth. I still haven't found the limits with mine.

305 WHP will not be enough to overcome the drag induced at the higher speed. Once you go to 6th around 160 MPH the acceleration will nearly stop. I could see it creeping up to about 170 at best. Remember, drag increases with the square of the speed.

Here is a simple chart I found giving an illustration using a one square foot plate:

Code:
Speed Drag HP
0 mph 0 pounds	0 hp
100 mph 33 pounds	9 hp
200 mph 133 pounds	71 hp
300 mph 299 pounds	239 hp
Lets say we have an equivalent of 10 square feet frontal area inducing drag. This would then require 10 * 71 = 710 HP to break 200 MPH. Whereas it only take 90 HP to break 100 MPH. That is a significant difference and shows why our cars couldn't come close to that number.

You're probably correct. All I know is that my 6MT pulls so much stronger in 6th with the S/C than without it; which gives me the impression that 150+ is possible. What is the theoretical MPH in 6th at rev limiter RPM anyway?

I did 152 mph in a 2001 cls... so automatic... and stock... so imagine what you guys can do with the cls6 and supercharger

I was racing with a mustang gt... his car stopped accelerating at 140 and I just passed slowly by him... slowly is more fun because you can see his face in disbelief
