I've run a gtp and got killed. What's the big deal? Not everyone thinks every CLS is faster than every GTP. Stock vs. stock it's a good race. Don't come in here w/a attitude and expect people to put up w/it. Talk about your races honestly and we'll respect you.

Rob, don't be such a dick. Funny story about a GTP. My friend Ken ran his Supra at the track against a GTP for the first run of the day. 11.7 to 13.8 ......Ken ran 11.7.....

 

Your trying to say from a roll a stock GTP vs. stock CL-S isn't gonna be a close race and could go either way??

 

It depends on what mile an hour roll you do! I know that a GTP can be modded cheap! If anyone is interested I have a friend that is selling his 98GTP Pace car very pretty car and slightly modded.

 

We slaughter GTPs from a roll and I proved that last weekend. One I ran had a pulley and some other upgrades, he asked me to run. He runs 14.4 at 99 mph. 10mph, he jumped 1/4 car, by 90 I was ahead by 1 bumper. IT was a very close race. Stock GTPs are slow.

 

You beat a car that runs 14.4@99 mph and your car ran a best of 15.3@92 mph.....something doesnt add up. Look at the traps he should pull you from that speed.

 

Yeah I agree if he said he ran a trap of 99 in a GTP he should have still beaten you well over 90mph. thats a 14.0 1/4 mile run easy. Maybe that GTP guy was lying about his track time!

 

I've raced two GTPs:

I beat a stock GTP, kind of close, but I won pretty easily.

2nd one was pretty heavily modded, and he whooped me. Intake, Exhaust, pullies, shift kit, etc...

Same guy owns 3 other cars, all v8s and muscle. This is his family cruizer. He is also around 30 years old as well. He showed me his timeslip, and its on video. But they guy doesn't have a way right now to put it online.

Well I just ran the same guy again twice tonight. On video which I have on my digi cam. No sound but the video is there. They plan to post it themselves the race and we had a few people watch. We both carried a passenger, him a female, me a guy, and we took off. Basically the GTP and me were dead even for a sec then he got oh about 1/4 car, then thats it, I pulled him back and put him half car back or so behind me. This was up to 100mph both races.

This is a pullied GTP running 10psi of boost.

As soon as I find a host that will support these videos, they will be up.

Also to mention no GT stangs showed up to run me like they said they were. But the GTP ran one tonight and beat it by about a car to 90. So if you figure the 2 together, hmmmmm.

 

sounds right to me...one thing i found out about the GTP is the redline at like 6 grand....well that means we have 1200 more turns on them and those 1200 are our most powerfull turns...im not sure if im right but i think area under the curve here is pointing to the cl-S (stock for stock) or lighly modded for

 

The only problem is that the GTP is SC'd, and your, well not YOU, but most CL's first 1200 RPM are ueseless, while his his SC is kicking in

 

Good runs...Did you actually see that this guy has run a 14.4 on a slip or is he just guessing? My friend raced a Modded GTP in his fully Modded 4th Gen 5 speed which is even with my Modded 5th gen and the GTP won by a car length or so.

Yep, he has a slip and video on his personal video cam of him running those times.

 

s/c'd or not I've raced a few GTP's and one(afriend that ive run 4 times or more) that has 3.4/and K&N and spank hime pretty badly...that was before the 3.5 block

 

Hey, that's me!! Anyway, I've been trying to figure this all out between this thread and the other thread with the non-working videos. Were these runs on the street or the strip? And if his GTP is modded and running 10psi, and he runs 14.40's (which sounds a little slow with a 99mph trap), and the CL in question has a 15.3 best.....then the guy obviously isn't very consistent with his car as there is no way he should lose to the CL. Modded GTP's will never lose to a basically stock CLs with major user error.

And to the guy in this thread who generalized that stock GTP's are slow........what does that say for stock CL's? They're dog-shit slow? Please, they're both quick cars..........try actually going to the strip sometime and you may learn this.

He never fixed his belt from the weekend before. He said he was only running 8-9 psi that night. So 14.4 at 99 mph was with 10psi, so a few psi off, higher 14s.

The races were off the line. Both. we agreed to do it this way since that tells which car is fater in the 1/4.

 

Anything new done to your car??? Have you been to Irving Park and Barrington lately?? Brian and I are heading up to Byron Saturday Oct 5th, you should try and meet us there. There should be around 6 other Maximas there also. We should get that video of the race up somewhere for everyone to see it. Brian has raced stock CL-S's and has never had a problem with them. I dont see a CL-S Auto beating your car...it moves both from a standstill and a roll.

 

Damn I wish I was in Texas! I raced my friend chris in his '01 5sp Max and yes, he can drive very well--And It wasn't even close, my CL-S handed him his "***", from a roll and from a stop!!! so you need to ummm, not talk too much trash....But anyway back to the GTP....And I know this is an ignorant but ....Its a pontiac, who cares--they suck!

I said that a long time ago before driving a CL-S. I drove a TL-S and thats what made me think the CL-S was the same till I drove one. He was quoting a very old post on the maxima board when I had one.
