Tl tranny in cl
Tl tranny in cl
Can someone help me? I've been trying to find the thread that shows how I can use a 06 tl or oddy tranny. Mine finally went out and I would like to do this swap. Please help me locate the thread post a link if possible. Thanks.
That linked set of posts is well worth the time to read. It may take some time, and there are a lot of garbage filler posts you have to wade through, but in the end you will find some transmission named that can be interchanged without much difficulity. The one thing that got to me about it is that while there are a number of transmissions that have been discovered to work there is really nothing that says that or why any one of them should be better than any other or even why one of them would be better than stock. No one tells you that as of this model or this serial number the pump size was increased or some hole was enlarged or some larger or stronger part came into use. Nothing like that, nothing that tells you that an '07 TL transmission is the one you want because that's when they fixed the problem or anything like that. So its a little disappointing in that regard.
For whatever its worth I bought a back up transmission after reading the article. I figured it would be better to buy one now at my leisure than later when I had to have it right now. I bought one from an '06 Ody' which seems to be one of the more recommended versions. I believe the case designation on the thing was BGRA and if I remember correctly the stock case is the BGFA - or maybe I've got that backwards.
At any rate the transmissions are easily found, either from the salvage yards or by E-Bay. Prices vary all over the place but for a thousand dollars or less delivered you should be able to get one with reasonable milage pretty quickly. For fifteen hundred bucks you can buy a rebuilt one.
