Powertrain doesnt matter, suspension and tire ratings do.

If you take a look at the link I posted to the other thread, one idea was to take the middle belt for a TL and use it in the CL. That thread got locked because everyone agreed it wouldn't make sense to exceed the cargo capacity, but if any of you are seriously considering this, you could probably look into that as an option.

i pretty much disagree with them arguing about the weight problem and making it an huge issue.

first of all, ur not gonna have 5 people back there all the time.

If the weight limit is 750, i'm guessing an average person prolly weighs around 150 or more. ofcourse chicks weigh a lot less. 150x5 = 750.

only one person originally posted about the weight problem and only one agreed to it. carrying 5 people in ur car will not really hurt ur car's suspension unless every one is a fat ass. in that case ud know better not to carry that many people.

I'd only agree with the weight issue if u were gonna carry fat asses constantly.

other than that its not even a minor issue

Like I said man, it's your car. The car has lots of care instructions, I'm sure you can get away with changing your oil every 10k and running 87 octane, but why? But as a point of reference, that "one" person was Mr. Steve. He was one of the gurus on this board until he moved on...

Also 150 is a little guy, not an average one. You can't have been serious about that one...

i dont even think 3 people sitting in the back would even be comfortable. 2 people sitting back there is fairly comfortable 3 is pushing the limits because the cl has arm rest on both sides in the back seat i dont think the chair will fit.

You're preaching to the choir on that one, all I said was it wouldn't be a straight swap, and I was afraid it might be too wide

Why not just remove the rear seat console and make a cushion that fits the spot and wrap it in leather.

me and david tried it yesterday and it doesnt work. the TL seat is too wide and you will have to cut off about 4 inches off of each side to even make it fit

Do you guys think it might work to remove the rear center armrest and replace that with a rear center cushion from the TL?

The rear center cushion from a TL is built into the entire bench. If youre hell bent on getting a seat in that spot, just have a pan made to bolt into the stock center console holes and have an upholstry shop make a seat for it. You wont have seatbelts though.

make the seat custom.
Strip both lowers down to the frame .
Get some metal sticks same size or bigger.(lowes got them)
assuming you have the rear center compartment outout.
Reinstall botoms and weld the basic shape you want.
then on the edge of the front and rear make two sticks boardering the edge about 1 1/2" apart.
One will be so the upholster can wrap the edge and the inner one will be to hook your material.
I did this with my back seat.
Notice how I wanted it around the box that would be where the upholsterer would pull the material to make it tight.
And the inner one gets hooked from the back.
