tire and rim fitment with Comptech drop

alright guys finally got cash to swap out my 03 stock 17s .. I want to go with 18's .. don't know what kind, but offer suggestions if you know any good ones please

But mainly I'm worried about tire fit .. I have a comptech drop. Will I rub with 235\40\18? This is closest to stock rolling diameter, right?
Or do I need to go 225\45\18? I want the LEAST wheel gap and preferably to be flush with fender, but no rubbing ..
I know I have to pay attention to wheel offset but I don't really know anything about offset .. what offset would I have to stay within for no rub?

Thanks guys.

Hey ...

I have a set of 18" Volk Racing SE37's with 235/40/18s ... works on a '02 TL-S ... I'm sure it'll work on a CL.

Offset? I hear that you shouldn't go below +45 ... don't quote me on this but as a reference guide.

BTW, I have a Comptech drop.

Thank you for the replies guys. So I guess if I stay at a +45 offset or higher I should be ok, right?

no 40 offset is bad plus it looks sstupid.

The tires wheels are too far out.

I rubbed before drop with a 235 45 17 on a 17x7 wheel with 40 ofset. I now run on 235 45 17 with 17 x 8 50 offset and things aera perfect

Wait, the higher the positive offset the further in the wheel well it is right? But then do I have to worry about brake clearance w\ stock brakes or does that not matter. excuse my lack of knowledge

Have the same setup. No problems.
I had 18X7.5 with a +42 & rubbed when I dropped it with 235 tires. I think with 225 tires you will not rub, but not sure. I'd go with a +45 or more though cause then the rim will tuck under the fender better & not stick out.

Blader,
I have an Anthracite CL-s like yourself, and REALLY wanted to purchase these rims from Ant. Here is the link-

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...hreadid=113440

He is asking something around $900 if I recall correctly, lives within a couple hours of you, and seems like a nice guy. You should def. give him a call, those rims would look dope on your ride!!

Anthracite + 18" Konig Prophets in Opel finish would look phat-

I would buy them, but have decided to put my money, for now, into springs which are being installed later this week .

Goodluck on rims man-

Blader,
I've decided to not do my shocks this time around, since I asked my dealer and they will warrant my shocks/struts till 100k. Figure I would get another 70K on my shocks, and if they go after 100K just invest in some good shocks (that I otherwise cannot afford at present). I also met two Acura-CLers this weekend w/ CT springs and running stock shocks. I'll be sure to throw some pics of my car washed, waxed, and w/ my new drop shortly (hopefully this weekend).

Yeah, polished lips are very cool. Best man!

I’m currently running 225/40/18 with a Comptech drop.
7.5” Rims with a +48 offset.

I’m replacing them this spring with 235/40/18 and I have my fingers crossed that everything works out OK.
