Tire Rack's Knowledge...Part2
Tire Rack's Knowledge...Part2
Ok guys, for those who have been following my interaction with a rep at Tire Rack regarding offset for our rims, this is what he had to say today:
Based on the database from their automotive engineers, a 17 x 7 rim will only go well with a 45mm offset
. He goes on to say that is the reason why the SSR Integral does not offer a 48mm offset in a 17 x 7 size. He said that their automotive engineers have been doing this for 22 yrs, so they do know what they're talking about
. In fact, if we were to go with anything other than a 45mm offset on a 17 x 7 rim, we'll be fighting the car and following every rut in the road
.
Ok, I smell "Cow Poopies" here. Anyone else agree with me?

Is there a way to get Acura to comment on what TireRack is saying? Does anyone have a way to present this information (I feel confident it is indeed coming from TireRack) to someone at Acura. Perhaps someone from Acura (or one of the dealers that must read this forum) will take note and reply?

I have the stock 17x7s up the street and they are 17x7 wheels. The offset is +55.
If you change the offset with same size wheel, you will change the driving characteristics (how much is subject to debate -- witness the # of tire and wheel combos on the board).
So, are they trying to say that Acura shouldn't have put +55 offset wheels on the car -- you have to be kidding...

. I am giving him more time to explain himself on this one
. Kinda sad when one does not admit to being wrong every now and then.
