Tire pressures

Anybody have some words of wisdom regarding street tire pressures for a CLS? Not autocross, street.

I used to run 34F and 30R on my Integra. Got me good street handling with no compromise in ride or tire wear.

Stock I had 34 cold all around. My current Toyo T1's I have at 42 cold all around. Just had them rotated front to back after 5K miles, & they are wearing fine. I put 5K on the stock tires, & also wear was good.

Is there some reason that you don't follow what is on the tire Placard? I can understand modifying for the drag strip or autocross.

The stock pressures are just mfg. recomended for all around use, not necessarily the best choice if you want better handling. Especially with a front driver a small pressure differential F to R can make a big difference in handling.

Probably something like, "Hey man, how about a taco"? Sorry, couldn't pass that one up.

I've been running 38psi for awhile now on my Toyo 225-40-18s. The ride is good and the handling is superb.

My 235/45-17 T1S get 39/38 (front/rear at this moment) and the pressure is checked with the car dead COLD. (I will run 40/39 and other variations depending on "conditions". The Toyo T1S really wear and handle much better with the higher pressure.)

Please check your tires "dead cold" (without driving very far). I've gotten a 3PSI increase by driving only 2-3 miles (and that's easy driving).

The stocks should be set at 32 (as door suggests) for comfort and "in general". They support full load at 35-PSI, so that wouldn't be a bad pressure for "fast" driving or for driving at speed on hot days...

(Check the Michelin site for further info on inflations with increased speeds [RE: the OEM 215/50-17 MXM4...]. They’re XL rated tires – so, they have a reinforced casing and can handle full load at 35-psi and support higher pressures (long story).
