Tips on buying a cls6

might be buying a cls6 with 120,000 miles

i believe he is 2nd owner, and car was from virginia.

should i be worried about rust on axle and frame?

any maintenance i have to worry about around that time frame? any thing i should specifically check on for the 03 cls6?

thanks

can't rush the search. just keep looking. remember u will have to pay tax for the car at the dmv and that buying out of state will also have more fees... i think license or w/e.

good luck on ur search. i highly suggest u bring it to a mechanic, check the records, etc.

not just rusting, potential problems, maybe an accident (some aren't reported). and check if he maintained his car well.

i won't be attending the SD meet, currently in canada. coming back on the 22nd, won't make it sadly.

Too bad you're not in Virginia, I'd entertain a reasonable offer on mine.

But to answer your question - assuming it's been well maintained and not cowboyed around it should be just fine. I've got 112K on mine with zero problems. Mine is stock and if this one has mods it might affect your choice. Depending on what they are of course.

The only weak spot on these cars is the auto tranny, so your choice of a manual is an excellant one. Good luck.

120K means that it should have had a major service at 105K (timing belt, etc).

Link to maintenance schedule here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=178269

Since it's in Va it shouldn't have any significant rust on the frame and axles, but it might be a little rusty/dirty under the hood.

You guys in CA generally don't like cars that come from the snow belt, so I'd suggest you look closer to home if you can (like the one iisylentii posted).

Higher mileage CL 6spds are starting to pop up more and more often.

there have been a lot of cl-s for sale since it's becoming an "old" car, so yes you should wait it out. trust me you'll find the perfect one.. don't just jump on it because its a cls6.

also dont let them play you saying navi should make it more expensive, check kbb, it doesn't make it all that more expensive. and the navi looks like ass...

yea navi is not great. but its a lot easier to access than the AM navis. where u have to use ur finger to navigate. i dont like acura navi much and it lags, and is inaccurate at times. but it has the joystick which is really help ful.

but yea as for the car, i think ill let this one pass. mainly because it is 120,000 and its from virginia, and its silver.

i really hope another comes by at this price tho

How much is the one in VA ??

You haven't commented on the one that's been linked a couple of times here from LA, CA...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=369791

That's $11K with 90k miles... they aren't going to get much cheaper then that (unless they have a salvage title).

Maybe I've been here too long, but whenever I see someone who says they are looking for a CLS6 and mentions one 3000 miles away from where they are, I get the feeling that they aren't really looking seriously.

GreenMachine hasn't posted in this thread

There's 8 CL 6spds within a 100 miles of you on autotrader...

You should have no problem finding one as long as you have a realistic price range....

make sure it's smogged before u buy and seller pays for smog. split inspection or something.

also you will be able to bump the price lower usually. if its listed at 11,000 negotiate.
