Tinting

Ok, I have researched all the tinting companies in my area and came up with the following prices. First thing which tint is higher quality, Llumar or Solar Guard. Also does 20% llumar look that illegal that a cop would pull me over? First I need permission from my parents about getting 20% illegal so I might not be able to.

$115 28% front windows and the little two windows, and 18% rear windshield (llumar smoke, with lifetime guarentee). Is the 28% pretty dark?

$119 20% all around, (llumar smoke, with lifetime guarentee).

I'm looking for a dark tint to go with my black Cl, but not like 15% where I could be pulled over. Thanks.

I chose Solar Guard on my ride since I think they are a bit thicker than the Llumar. Llumar is probably a bit smokier and the Solar Guard is a bit reflective (the Quantum is more reflective than the HP Charcoal). I have the HP Charcoal on mine which is decent...and I'm running with like 32% or something on the front 2 and 22% on the rear 2 and back windshield.

You can't really go wrong with either brand since it's got a lifetime warranty. Just be sure the installer is good.

I think the car would look great in 20% all around, but it'll be a waste if you get nailed for that. 28% is pretty dark (not as dark as 20%, of course)...but in my opinion, I think it will still look great. You may want to consider doing the 2 rear ones darker, but I know some people don't like the 2 shade difference on the side.

BTW, what color is your interior? If it's black, the 28% will look darker than if your interior is beige.

interior is black, i want it to look pretty dark, but u suggest going 28%, 18% combo? I think im gonna stick with llumar, cuz there arent much solarguard tinters around here. Also how will the visibility be at night with 18% in the back?

Llumar is the better tint. Solarguard isn't thicker (more mils). What seems to be thicker in Solarguard is a different adhiesive backing. The properties make-up and heat rejection in Llumar is better. It will also last longer. I used 20% Llumar/gray all around. Average price here in FL for that tint is about $ 140. Mostly everyone will discount it $20 bucks. No only does it have a lifetime guarantee against defects, but a no fault guarantee as well. In other words, if your dog scratches it, or you kick it while getting laid and damage it, you get it replaced for free.

My side windows: front is 35, back is 20, both are Llumar.

This combo kept me legal but pretty dark. Some people seem to hate it, though.

The tint is made to look darker as you look from the outside/in. From the inside/out it is lighter. That's the way it's made. Here in Florida, the best way to go is 20% because of the heat and glare. Anything darker here is illegal. But in other states, beware...you may be...busted. Check the laws in your state.

Yep, you've got to be careful in states other than Florida, Arizona....

I got a ticket in Ga for my 14% Tinting. It was already on the car when I bought it. It took 2 years, but they finally saw me. Going to Court on 27 of this month. I had the front 2 windows reduced to Georgia Legal Limits. Just a Word to the wise. Could be just a matter of time before some one sees them.

Yes on both. I have 35 on the front two and 20 on the back two sides plus the back window. A couple of people on the board say that they don't like the mixed 35/20 look on side windows (in general), but I think that on a black/black CL, you can't really tell they're different from the outside. I like it this way.

On a TL, it would be a different story, since you'd see two full-size windows next to each other. I've seen 4-door cars with the 35/20 split on the side windows, and I'd agree it looks weird for them.

i have a silver/black CL with 20% and they look way darker than just 20%. black interior makes tints look a lot darker than they are. go with 20% IMO.. here in florida i think 25% is legal for front windows. so you might want to be safe and get that

20% Grey/Charcoal is legal in Florida, however 20% Silver is not.

I love being in the military and still having my car registered in FL...No matter where I go or how long I stay in that state I can be in Florida and not one cop will bust me for anything...Show my military ID and tell them I'm from FL and they are like "well, it's recommended you do this and that but if you were registered here that would be a high priced fine"...blah blah blah...

Gotta love it...

I was wondering if i need togo to the same place to get one of my windows re-tinted? The reason im asking is because the passenger window broke.

Pappy, the legal limit for front windows in Fl is 28% and 15% rear. Does 28% with black interior look pretty dark?
