Yep manual says 105k. if you drive in "severe conditions" then 60k. They decribe severe in the manual. I live in denver and i ski so Im in severe conditions on occasion so ill probably replace it at 90k

My shop told me that even though it's a ways off it, really needs to be done right on time. They had just had a CL that had 110k on it and the belt broke. $4200 in damage.

I had over 200k on mine and it was still in great shape. Ive also seen a belt with 20k go. Age is more important to the changing of it than miles

If it broke at 110K, and its around 7 years old, then there was something really wrong with the way this car was operated. Maybe it was driven really hard, or operated in extremely/cold hot temperatures, so the belt should have been changed at 60K. I don't believe that 5K over the 105K limit is critical.

Sure you CAN push it farther. Many belts will hold up for well over 200k miles. Your car doesn't break down when if you go over 3k on an oil change either. Point is that sooner or later it may go out. Same goes for the water pump. Do you want to take the chance that it goes while your on a road trip hundreds of miles from home?

This thread kind of reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer takes the Saab on a test drive and him and the sales person push it to see how far it will go until it was out of gas.

yeah, but what about my wife's car that got 55K miles and just turned 7 year old?
Just because its 7 years I don't think its a big deal, I am sure if I wait another year it will be OK. the probability is very low it will go in the next year given she has low miles.

105K Miles as others have said. If you've got a 100K mile warranty, I suggest you do your timing belt prior to 100K. If they find other problems while they are in there, they can charge some of the repair to warranty.
I noticed a bit of coolant leakage prior to 100K on ours and it turned out it was the water pump. That was replaced under warranty and I had them do the timing belt service while they were in there. I was very luck and saved quite a bit of money on that deal. Paid for timing belt service parts and a majority of labor was covered under warranty.

I have a water pump and timing belt sitting in my garage if i ever feel the time things need to be changed.
But I haven't noticed any leakage from the waterpump area and I have looked at the OEM belt in my garage and it seems like very good construction.
I probably will never change my timing belt because I plan on trading my cars in to the dealer here in the next 6 months. They aren't going to ask about me changing the timing belt like a private seller would so why waste the money.
