Time for me to mod the CL-S... intake first? which one?

alright ive come to the point where i want to do a few small mods to my 01 CL-S automatic

ive owned several hondas and acuras in the past and i know intake is usually a good first mod to a car..

ive researched and found that the AEM CAI intake gives a gain of about 15hp/12ft and retails for around $315

also AEM also makes the V2 for the CL-S but i could not find any information on the gains of this intake. i did have the v2 intake on my integra gsr 2 years ago and i loved the way it sounded..

there is also the comptech icebox.. the gains on this intake is similar to the AEM CAI, 14hp/12.8ft on the CL-S 6spd. i could find anything about the gains with this intake on the 5spd auto that i have. i know that comptech makes quality parts for hondas and acuras that many service departments will not want to void warranties as soon as they see it installd on the car, like other aftermarket parts.

so my question is, what do everyone think is the best intake to install on the CL-S AUTO... and where can i find the cheapest price shipped on these parts..

Thanks

I would go for the AEM or the Comptech Icebox. I have the AEM CAI in my car and i love it. Car sounds pretty much stock at low rpms and it roars at V-tec. My friend has the Comptech Icebox but you can hardly notice a sound difference. I also like how the AEM CAI sounds when you turn off your car (like a vacum noise).
IMO AEM CAI SOUNDS SEXY

Comptech >*

No loud sucking intake noises at idle, a slight growl under WOT, the highest gains, and no chance of hydrolocking.

If you do a search there are tons of threads on this subject.... In short the icebox yields tad bit more power while the AEM has the roar.... Myself I choose the icebox, over AEM... If you do get the AEM do get the bypass valve just to be safe.. the v2, i really wouldnt get....

I couldn't agree more...and try and get the CT headers if you can; those make the BIGGEST difference, as opposed to FI.

V2 is only made for the CL-P but can be installed on the CL-s with some modifications. Go with the Icebox, I personally have the AEM, sounds great on WOT but the thing hits the body everytime I hit a bump, sounds like a danm coffee can under the hood.

I have had an Injen now for about a year and I love it. Sounds great, same gains as AEM, and have yet to have ANY problems with it. Doesn't hit the body when going over bumps and is made very well.

Icebox. I had both and the AEM broke, and banged around a lot. The Icebox looks better and I personally don't care for the louder noise from the AEM. Plus, the Icebox is easier to take care off.

I have the AEM, but if I did it all over again, I would go with the CT Icebaox. Mainly for the convenience factor on cleaning the filter.

Thanks everyone.. as far as the comments about the AEM banging up and making noises i do remember that about an AEM intake i had a couple years ago. i actually had to replace the intake once because it hit on the side of the intake on the hole that goes underneath the bumper and cut away at the intake..

i think i will go with the Comptech unless i find a very good deal on the AEM..

anyone have a comptech for sale or know a site that has them for a good price?? from the comptech website they list it as 279 and im sure it can be had for cheaper than that..

Go on ebay and search for CT stuff sold by Acura of Escondido. I just bought my Icebox from them, and they have amazing service and probably the best prices as well. I think I paid $249 for mine.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
