Ticket in Jasper, Indiana
I got pulled over for going 110 in a 65 and got reckless driving. For some reason my escort 8500 never went off. I called and they said that the ticket hadn't been filed yet and i have court on nov 6. I got the ticket on Oct 8th. What do you think the fines will be.

i don't know about IN, but i guess it would be in the 4-figure range going by what the fines are in CA. any previous convictions for moving violations may also affect the fine amount (read: higher for each subsequent conviction.)

i read this thread again and i noticed that you're in IL and got a ticket in IN. my guess is that that your driving record won't affect your fine amount, but if you're convicted, the conviction will be reported to your home state because both states are members of the drivers license compact. your driving privileges and ins. premiums will both be affected. good luck man.

Definitely get an attorney. My friend went to court with a smilar fine, there was another guy in the court room that had a reckless driving ticket. He had no attorney, the Judge told him to leave and come back with one (He got a continuence).

damn, in va you'd most likely go to jail, or if your real lucky you'd get a suspended jail sentence and a big ass fine. definately get a lawyer and hope the judge doesnt make an example out of you.

Did a state trooper get you? Were you on the Toll-Road I-80?
110 in a 65 isn't good... I've never been cited, so I can't tell you from personal experience how it'll go, but I've heard of people who got MASSIVELY fined and did lose their license due to reckless driving citations in Indiana...
Good luck!

I got a similar charge in Hawaii 11 years ago. 110 in a 50 zone. That was so dumb. I would have been charged with reckless driving, arrested, license suspended for 6 months and car impounded. Plus fined for $4 for every mph over the limit + $150, and charged for court costs. But I didn't give the cop a hard time so no reckless driving. I wore a suit and tie to court and was really respectful. I told the judge I had no excuse and pleaded guilty. I ended up with a $150 fine and three points. And I was more than happy with that. Good luck dude. BTW it was never reported to my insurance company, and I sure didn't say a thing.

I fought a ticket (not quite 110) with a lawyer and won. It makes a great deal of difference having a lawyer. Mine worked on a fixed rate to get me off. Fine one like that that you can pay a fixed rate.
I remember someone here suggesting going to Court early and talking with a lawyer that is already there and finished. They may represent you for a cheaper price (but I would only use this as a very last resort).

I have had over 20 tickets, and the best thing to do is get a lawyer to take care of it, since the court date is so close you will probley continuence, by you having a lawyer he car find out if the cop even filled the ticket with the city clerk, you might luck out i have heard of this happening! A few years back i got a 105 in 65 it cost about grand total, but i recieved no points no suspension and no driving school. with a lawyer you won't have to even appear in court your attorney will take care of it.
good luck.

I think what everyone failed to mention here is your current driving record. Natually if you have no points and a clean record they will be easier on you. But if you have two or three other speeding tickets, your gonna get whacked. DEFINITELY get a lawyer, call one right now. Show up in your best Sunday threads and look like your paying attention in the court room.
Then tell the Judge that you just ate at Taco Bell and you were "making a run for the border"....

In 1986 in Texas, I got a 110 in a 55. No jail, no reckless, just a big fat $235 ticket. I was paced, not even a peep out my Escort. I called the judge and asked for driving school since it was my first ticket as a Texas resident. He dismissed the ticket and I paid $50 for a half-day session at Sears...no lawyer required. A lot of money for a college student nonetheless.
So make the telephone call first to see where you stand, get the facts, then make a good decision. I have had a bunch of tickets out-of-state and usually what I have found is if you agree to pay and plead no contest, they are willing to work with you.
