Hmmm.... I wonder how many people though I was nuts with the legislators wanting to add the vehicle kill device and a subtle intent to use NAVI, GPS, cell-phone-handoffs, and OBDII as means to track drivers to give them automatic tickets.

As I noted, just think about the NAVI storing LAT/LON + calculated speed -- what a nightmare. Let see, you drop the car off for a 15K service, only to be arrested by the police for doing 90MPH on the freeway!

If you remember, awhile ago there was something in the news about Corvette owners complaining after finding out that their on board computer stored information about their driving habits, like speed, braking, cornering etc. They were afraid that this information could be used against them in warranty or accident related matters.
It's really pretty scary if you think about it.
I wonder if our cars store information like that too...

i got in trouble from this too. a couple of months ago my boss let me take his mercedes 280 sport for business. i wanted to see what it can do. i got it up to 130 a couple of times on RT 80. when i got back he busted me i was like wtf!! he said all he has to do is call a 800 number and he can get the top speed for the past 24 hours. you had to see my face.
