Thinking of jumping ship... what do u guys say...

Well its been about a good month since my replacement tranny... and I am just relactant to push the car the way I used to.... Went down to my infiniti dealership and he has offered the following to me... Want to see the input of fellow members to see if I was getting a good deal...

For my 2001 Acura 3.2 CLS w/44,400 miles extended warranty till 100K

Will pay me $17,688 US

Take off all my mods (rims, comptech headers, icebox, sways, springs) and replace them back with the stock. Give me back all my parts and all....

G35 - 36,737.68 US + freight, PDI, and all...

Goona lease the car for 538.3373 US dollars including taxes

Downpayment: 4,998.85 US

The other vehicle I liked was the FX-35 with the technology package...

I love my acura... but the six speed, and our tranny problem just scares me now... I really wanted to buy the SC but am reluctant to... Plus the price for my car he is giving me looks good in my opinion since he takes off all my mods, replaces w/stock, and gives them back to me in my new car ...

What do u guyz think???

Almost $40k for a G35?? that's crazy too much, not worth $30k to me, not even $25k. It felt nowhere near as refined as the CLS. I just don't see the pricing on the G35? It's got good exterior style, but I've driven 2 of them and felt like I was in an econobox. I guess I'm too old for it and in the minority here, doesn't make sense to me. . I'd go German for those prices.

Good Deal on the CLS, but it looks like you're paying MSRP on the G35

(I'm too lazy to see what invoice/msrp is on edmunds...)

that sounds about right...

my 03 g35c 6mt was leased..

5000 down with 570 a month for 48 month with 15000 miles a year. Buy back value is around $15000 after 48 month

but i think they should do a little better now since 05 is coming out in a few month.

almost $600 to lease an Infiniti?? Some crazy $$ around here. Sure the G35 is fast but the interior and some features are low rent, sorry. open and shut the hood and trunk, check the seats, look at the interior and rear seat. not very interesting. the exterior way outclasses the interior and appointments. much rather get a used 330ci for less.

Rounding it of $538 x 48months = $25824 + 5% = $27115 Total amount paid

Then having the option to purchase it for again rounding it of @ $18,000US

Thats $45,000US not including % for the $18000 if you where going to finance it, and again find out what insurance you would have to take out for that kind of a lease it will be high

Thats a very expensive open ended lease for a G35.

Plus if i am understanding it right thats not including your $5000 downpayment, correct ???

Also "For my 2001 Acura 3.2 CLS w/44,400 miles extended warranty till 100K
Will pay me $17,688 US"

If i may ask, do you own anything on the your CLS ?

I cant argue with you about the interior but i can live with it especially i had a CLS too. As for features, g35 has equal or more features than cls. Bird view 7" navi? 13" brembo? Bose 6 disc changer, dual climate control? AUTO UP/down windows (ALL OF THEM), 18" rims? One Touch sunroof?

What s wrong the the hood and trunk? the trunk uses hydralics which is very solid and less rattle and that was something CLS doesnt have. when you close CLS's trunk, it s like "CLUNK"

as for the rear seat. It is a COUPE , it was never meant to have big rear seat. If someone cares about rear seat so much then he should get a sedan, not a coupe.

fyi: i paid $750 a month for my CLS with 0 down when i bought it. so $570 feels much cheaper than my CLS.

I would say go with a used 330. My friend had a 6sp. navi G35 for about 2 months, now he has a 5sp. 330. Much better car all around, the only thing he misses is the navi. But he has driven my car around alot and says that my CL's navi is better (easier to use etc.)

so about 22k cad for your cls?

check auto trader for cars with similar km's but it seems reasonable...

the more important question is whether this makes financial sense for you

two years from now your cls will still be worth 18k cdn, the g35c will be worth 30k, see what I mean?

i dont know about canada but g35c is one of the top 5 highest resale value vehicles.

for example: my 01 CLS ($33000new) and it got stolen in 03 with 25000 miles. The vlue of that car was like 19k USD only

my 03 G35C (36000 new) and it s totalled 2 weeks ago with 19000 miles.. and i got 33k for it. so basically CLS lost 14k in 2 years and the g35c only lost a few thousands in ALMOST 2 years.

i dont know why infiniti's web site has the wrong specs on the brembo brakes, but they are not 13"
12.76" x 1.18" ventilated front rotors/13.07" x 0.87" ventilated rear rotors

i agree that it has more features or at least equal, but it also costs alot more. a g35c leather with premium pack. is pretty even with a cls. and the msrp of a cls was 31.7 if i remember right.
g35c with prem. is 35.5, almost 1k less for an auto. so its 3-4k more than a cls, it better have the extra few options.

____________

I agree. that is why CLS is best bang for the buck back in 01, which was why i bought it.

and you dont have to get all mathmetical with me 12.76 = 12.8 =13" haha =)

my CLS was like almost 33k msrp. but you have to remeber that was back in year 2000. now it is 2004. CLS would be like 34k+ in 2004.
besides g35c is 3.5L with RWD which should cost more than 3.2L FWD CLS.

i am not biased in this case since i have neither CLS Nor G35C now. i am just stating the fact. that CLS was best bang for the buck in 2001 and g35c is one of the best bang for the buck for 03.

on the other hand 330ci is NOT bang for the buck simply because it is 46k Sticker price ( performance package with 225HP?) but it is definetely a NICE car.

Will your headers fit on the 6-speed and if so what you want for them? That raspy factory exhaust on the G35 coupe sounds sick!!

Hey Babyblue,

You seriously thinking about the trade? You realize ... it's Sept and the new models are coming out ... And is the Infiniti gonna be your daily driver? You wanna take RWD out in Toronto roads in the winter? It'll be a snowplow on the 401 ...

I'd say you've taken the bulk of the depreciation already ... stick it out 'til something bad happens (or when the car falls apart). Save your $$$ for your wife and the house, etc. We've had this discussion already ...

If not ... invest it and take that cash towards your next car. Wait 'til the Skyline GTR comes out ... see if you'll drool over that Nissan when you have your G35c ... Food for thought.

agree... invest $ into a house is a much better choice than into a car.
05 g35 is coming out late Dec .. not sept.
new GTR will be around 60k+ which is kinda expensive.

Hey Derrick,

Thanks for your input bro... I hear ya when you say winter and G35C.... gonna suck real bad eh.. in regards to the house, already purchased.. The wife, well as everyone knows they'll always be there to take the dough ....

In regards to deprication your right, the CL has taken the hit... but I don't know if it has hit rock bottom before the curve will go in our favour Let me give ya a shout once i get back in town.. Lets discuss eh....

Your car plus $20K for a G35C. I wouldn't do it, although I do like the G35. The CLS is a nice car for a daily driver. I agree with keeping the car for a few more years and hanging on to your money.

Separation?

Baby...
Look..it's up to you.. Obviously you're not in love anymore with your CL..
Over the years, i have come and parted with cars..Hey, it's a lot cheaper
and easier than a real divorce ..
What is right or wrong is up to you.. Experience is what you need..Everyone
can tell you what to buy or not to buy, what to invest in etc.. The bottom line
is, you need to decide what you think is right for you. You'll get more out of
life this way.. Get what you want now cause when you get married and have
kids...the chips and these kinds of decisions have far more consequences...
Good luck and enjoy!
(p.s. don't do german unless you lease new..get that 4 year mtc free..damm
things can deep pocket you when out of warranty or become hanger queens)
