Thinking about 8000K bulbs

After fighting with Acura today, I decided to order a ballast from Delray Acura and a set of bulbs and have my mechanic install them. Will 8000K bulbs melt my housing or burn up a ballast? What can I expect to pay. I've searched but really haven't found anything, so any help would be great.

Nothing will melt or burn out. The color temp is higher & will result in a purplish color & a reduction in light output. You will see less at night.
You can DIY & save your $. All you have to do is take off the bumper. There are 2 DIY threads on this & is easy.

Definitely DIY. I never even took a bumper off a car and the ballast install (twice) was easy. The higher the number on the bulb, light becomes more blue, then into purple. Lower is more yellow. I believe our stock bulbs have the best light output.
