is there a way to fix whistling

Is there a way to fix whistling sound of the Gates Belts/ UR Pulleys?

The Power steering UR pulley with Gates Belt is whistling at idle and low rpms.

I tried to loosen the belt, it did not help. I did tighten the belt and it did not help either.

If I put some soap on the belt the whistling sound goes away and then come back after the soap wears off.

Any fix?

Have u tried candle wax? Just heat up candle can while the engine is ideling run the candle on the belt. Dont drip how wax on the belt that is pointless and messy.

I have used this special liquid that came in a small blue bottle (about the size of a '3 in 1 oil' bottle)called "belt dressing" or something like that ***used to see it in Kmart auto section*** It quited the belts on my '74 dodge dart, '82 LeMans, etc.... real nice I remember.

If you can name that special "belt dressing liquid" that would great!...

I hate to replace the belt if this would do the trick!

Thanks!

Now as I think more it was in a blue & brown can like size of wd-40 and said "belt dressing" on it. It might not have been in the automotive stores but possibly in the "hardware" store (before Homedepot...)http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=32

If you need something that's wax-like, there's the stuff for bikes call WhiteLightening. It's a liquid wax for chains. The stuff works wonders for bikes.

I just got this 2$ STP "belt dressing" 6-Oz Can.

It shut off the noise from the first application. Actually, I sprayed maybe 2-3 times on 2 parts of the belt. I did apply it on the AC clutch pulley too (just in case). I did apply it on the Sienna's belts too!

Somthing like this but made by STP:

Amazing results, now let us see how long it lasts. If it wears off, no problemo, 1-2s application would fix the noise again
