The BM is truly a ***** to launch. First, if you drop the clutch too hard, at say 2200, the CDV extends the engagement point and you you have a strange slipping feel. If you don't rev/drop it hard enough, it takes up right now and you do the lurch. After a while you learn to let it go sorta quick at about 2200 and it gets off pretty good. But, it is difficult and you don't want to practice too much for fear of damaging the clutch or someone seeing you look stupid. A real man would just drop it at 2500 and get some clutch burn some tire burn.
The other thing is that this thing is geared short, not like an old muscle car. So, by the time you are out of the clutch, you have one sec. to get the next one going so that one is usually a clunker also. It really jumps off the bottom. To fifty it will take anything short of Corvettes.
In general, I try to sucker anyone into a low speed roll on. The CLS cannot make up the low end lead, but from 60 to 100 th CLS will take it, before the 4th gear death.
My sign on indicates that my wife has taken the CLS as her daily driver, rather than a swap-off, and she has ensconced a giant pink beanie/teaddy bear in the front seat.
