WTF. they sell a "Acura Genuine Kit" for the CL. for $835. this is the same kit as the TL. is this a mistake, or are they actually mass producing TL Conversion kits for the CL?

BTW, under the TL category they didnt even have the TL kit!?

chungkopi, do you mean you want to tint your 01-02 lights? Cuz those are 03 lights in the picture. Just checking.

Not a mistake... if you notice it says the kit will fit the CL with some fabrication as several members on here have done. The pic of that kit is actually a members CL with the TL kit.

As for the TL kit... we have it. Under the TL-->Acura section the body kit is listed for both the 1999-2003 and as well as the new 2004 TL... so it's all there. If by chance you were looking in the TL Exterior section and unable to find it, it's not there.... but the links at the top of the page take you right to them in the Acura section

The tail tint will fit any of the 2001+ CL's since the tails never changed (so the instructions are good for either), however, they are shown on a 2003 CL. Not sure how they'd look over the red lens....

Has anyone tried this tint on their 02 or previous CLS? On an aegean blue possibly? Looks great on the black one, but not so sure about other colors.

So far the colors of our customers cars (that we know of as not everyone tells us the color) have been black, silver and blue. Unfortunately no pics... but maybe they'll pop up on here or be emailed to us. It's pretty subtle, so if should look good on most colors, especially darker ones. Not sure how it would look on the tails that aren't clear. Also not sure how it would look on white... I'd probably go with the lighter tint on that color

I ordered the tint from c-c-c.net about a week ago for my 03' CL-S. Should be here any day now. I always though that the bright white tail lights looked a little odd on a gray car (I know, they are actually clear but they look white). I'll let you know how they turn out.

I dunno if those would look good on anything besides an 03 taillight bc the 01-02 are all red. I think it would look a lil funny unless you smoke the whole taillight lens. not just the top where the 03 is white

Are these actually cut to fit? Or do you trim them? I want to get a set soon. Would like to see a pic of the lighter ones on a car.

Please post pics. The pics on c-c-c are too small. This might be a real nice subtle mod for us with darker cars and 2003 tails.

Does the tint go inside the lens assembly or just stick to the top? I'd be a little hesitant if it sticks to the top. I could just see getting stopped by a cop and trying to explain dark stick-up tape on the rear lens. I'm sure it would be forced to be removed if it was noticed.

Adheres on the outside, but it looks stock when installed properly. We have not installed them ourselves, but the feedback is that when they light up the tint allows most of the light out... so there's very little noticable difference in light output and again.. looks stock. We've also known of people who have them installed for a little over 4 months and through the winter and have had no problems with wear. Once they're on, they're good to go.

As for the tint itself, it comes with instructions and you will have to trim it to the light.

i believe Dean has done this mod on his black CL which is the CL on the website. You can pm him or try to do a search for the pics. I know he has posted them before.

Yeah, that's actually his car we used in the pic (with permission of course). I searched for the pics but they're gone for now... until the database is fully restored.... so that's the best pic we have.

How much darker does it make the light? i want the tint but i want people to know that im stopping behind me. i dont want to plowed into.

The pics on the site only cover the directional/back up portion of the light so the red "Stop" part of it should be fine and nobody will plow into you.

I am very tempted since they come with the template and that was the part I was stressing over. i'd probably go for the lighter tint to avoid the cops a bit more.

I received my tail light tints today. The install when pretty well. I will say the following:

No template provided. The instructions don't say to use one. I created my own out of some static type tint that I had lying around.

The tint has a greenish tint to it. I would have preferred a smoke tint but it's hard to tell how it looks at night. I will tell you what I think about it tomorrow.

The tint is like window film but thicker and more like vinyl (or somewhere between plastic and vinyl).

At first, I didn't think it was going to work that well. Film is always hard to do around a corner. Once I started treating it as if it was window tint (I have tinted many windows in the past) and got my spray bottle out, it when much faster and cleaner. I had a few bubbles (I used my hand and not a squeegee) but once I got out my hair drier and a needle, I was able to take most of them out. I will finish removing the bubbles after everything dries.

Over all, I think they turned out really nice. I won't be able to really see them until tomorrow. I did take some pictures!

would this stuff work on the headlights? just wondering if it would look decent, rather than 03 headlight housings...

I see two problems with using these on headlights.
1) You'd loose some light. I've seen some cars with tinted headlights but I wouldn't do it ... maybe on the fog lights.
2) I don't think it would last as long being in front of the car (scratches and such). I have seen lens protectors made out of simillar suff (along with the clear bra film).
Knowing that, I guess it would work on the front. I would use the lighter tint instead of the dark tint.

We sell them as taillight tints... I wouldn't recommend using them on the headlights... especially since it's highly illegal.

I think youll get pulled over alot for tinting your headlight, i see it on alto of mustangs but...

You really don't need a template and the instructions are pretty good. I would suggest that you install them when it's warm (or use a hair drier like I did). I had a few little problems but I really think most of it had to do with it being about 50 Degrees in my garage. Once I started using the hair drier, everything when real fast and easy.

I'm assuming your tailight is your template. You can't really cut it before installing because the vinyl will have to be stretched to fit.

Can't you just buy axias window tint and DIY? Squeegy, water bottle, heat gun?

I tried doing it with window tint. It seemed like it was way too brittle. It wouldn't stretch enough to conform to the taillights.

I bought the darker tint. This stuff is a little like window tint but has more of a vinyl feel to it (yes, it stretches). Plus, true window film scratches if you look at it wrong ... this stuff doesn't seem to scratch as easy.

My method was:

1) cut it down close to size,
2) spray water on the tail lights,
3) place the film over the lights,
4) use my fingers to get most of the bubbles out,
5) heat the edges to get the wrinkles out (remember, it was only 50 degrees in my garage),
6) get all the water worked out and get the film all snug,
7) use a razor blade to trim,
8) go back over any bubbles with the hair drier and a needle poking very very small holes to get the air/water out.

It took me about 30 minutes for the first one, 15 minutes for the second. The more I live with the tint, the more I like it!
