Go get yourself a book on engines.
Get it straight you moron, it's your mom that has 70,000 miles on her, not the TL.

Go back to your BMW or ford forums... or 70000+moms.com, wherever you came from...

Sheesh guys.. just put 89 in your cars.. if you can't decide between the best gas or the cheapest why not use middle? Well most mechanics I know told me 87 will be fine for the car even the acura dealer said so. They just said your car wont be running the full potential and the Type S dont even matter then cause u wont get that 260 hp. But if you do put 87 gas just put 91 at least once a month to clean our the engine.

thats my

When did owning a CL become a prerequisite for reading/posting to this forum?

Ah, another word of wisdom from the killer

Engine calibrations are the factor that determine which cars use which gas.....has nothing to do with "cheap".

You and toolman seem to share a brain.

It's not a prerequisite but it kinda helps. Rather than sitting around being the Resident A$$hole (and that's NOT self proclaimed) Perhaps a Ford ar TL Forum would be more appropraite. Or is this the only forum you you haven't been kicked out of?

Hey killer,

You and toolman have one thing in common (besides your Mothers)--

You both think that using 87 octane will blow up your CL motors!

That's how all this shit started- You claimed devastating effects and toolman claimed that the valves would hit the pistons! I always get a good laugh out of the bullshit posted on this board.

That's why I became "Captain of the B.S. Police" here long ago. I think I should bring back my title and stamp out as much of the bullshit here that I can.

I'd be very busy, that's for damn sure.

BTW...Detonation in an Internal Combustion Engine can cause SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE. Burned valves etc...

If there is nothing WRONG with 87 why would you need to CLEAN it out with 91?

Again I have forgotten more than you will ever know.
First of all I said POTENTIAL for damaging an engine. Now you can't read? As for my experience I spent 8 years building race engines for a Vintage Triumph racing club. I merely just didn't read my mom's TL manual. Hang out at a race track sometime you might learn something. I also said it would probably take a while to cause any damage.. hence the hindsight is 20/20 comment. That was prolly too complex for you I know. Prolly whay you never commented on why the TYPE_S has such a low redline. I promise you if ONLY run 87 you will hurt a TYPE -S engine in the long run. Esp. in the summer.

300 posts makes me a noob? I remember when you dumb ass joined and I'm the noob.

The only insane person I see here is Tom and he is right.

You other guys need to shut up. 87 octane will not do any damage on any modern car that can pull back on timing with a knock sensor.

Even in the long run it will not hurt the car. It's in the manuals of the car, its on the site that 87 will work just fine.

Geez I am sick of seeing this childish arguement when everyone knows that 87 will work, but 91+ is RECOMMENDED (remember it says recommended not a MUST).

Car & Driver does the octane test...

Check this link out... interesting info that Car & Driver came to regarding octane differences.

Very good, killer... now we're getting somewhere. Nobody ever said that detonation can not cause severe engine damage. However, a small amount of detonation is not harmful, according to the manufacturers (several of them, as stated in their own literature).

That said, low octane fuel will not cause severe engine damage in a vehicle such as the CL because it is equipped with knock sensors, which will retard timing in the event of any knock (aka detonation).

Understand yet?

Now that's a scary thought..... 8 years building race engines and still clueless about the mechanical workings of an internal combustion engine.

I merely just didn't read my mom's TL manual. Hang out at a race track sometime you might learn something.

Funny that you mention that.... I spent lots of time at several race tracks...but drag racing was more of my thing than ovals or road race courses. As for my knowledge- it does well beyond reading a manual.

I also said it would probably take a while to cause any damage.. hence the hindsight is 20/20 comment. That was prolly too complex for you I know. Okay, thanks for the promise, but again your opinion is baseless. As it has been stated here several times, Acura engineers claim it's acceptable to run lower octane fuel in their CL and TL engines. But somehow, toolman thinks he knows more than the engineers.....you're such a stupid fool.

300 posts makes me a noob? I remember when you dumb ass joined and I'm the noob.
I think Tom2 and TOPGAYTRADER are the same person.

No, you don't remember when I joined. I was here from the day soopa started this site. As a matter of fact, I used to encourage him to start his own site back when H/A net used to go down all the time.

And by the way, Topgaytrader is one of a kind. He's an even bigger fool than you. No way he could ever be me [/B]

killer,

If you understood, you wouldn't have made the claim that low octane fuel will damage the engine in a CL.

----------------------

I think we're wrecked this thread enough (you, me and toolman), so I'm gonna give it a rest. It's been fun, but this shit has spread to too many other threads.

Maybe we should PM each other with the insults. I know it's not as much fun, but we really are fucking these threads up lately.
