switchblade key

The little ad bar on top of GMail had a link to "Acura switchblade remotes", so I clicked it out of curiosity and stumbled upon this:

https://www.ikeyless.com/vehicles/Acura/CL/2003/1000877

Has anyone had any experience with that particular key? (Does it work like it should, with the chip inside and everything?)

It looks like you pull the circuit board out of the stock remote and put it in that case. Aside from the quality of the case itself, it should work like stock.

Why not just get a real Acura switchblade for that price?

Seriously...go on ebay and get an OEM RL key. Take it to the dealer and get it all done up.

Cause it won't work on our cars. There is no way to get the button on the SB key to work on any 2nd gen TL or CL.

Exactly. Ive got a switchblade key sitting on my desk at the house. The chips are completely different, so I cant even swap the frequencies. The key can be milled and cut to work though.

Can't see your link at work but again, the switchblade keys will not work with the 2nd gen TL or CL. Case closed. It's been tried and failed.

Nope. BTW, that key is useless because its already been cut. You cant get replacement keys. Its the whole unit.

Someone did this a while ago...I think with a newer Accord key...and then of course didn't post how it was done.

I want to say it was AntraciteCL but then again I may be mistaken, forgive me if I'm incorrect.

Yea, anthracite doesnt visit the site much. If it is possible to use the Accord key Id pick one up. I believe you can get the case from an MDX/RDX so it will still have the (A) on the back instead of the [H].

I'm sure he didn't finish the Accord key. But the key he's using, "the one that's silver and weird looking", is one of the kits on ebay for ~30 dollars. I got one of those, but after ~4months, the whole key assembly breaks apart. Also, it wasn't a "switchblade" but rather a "slide" key.

IMHO, it wasn't worth it. (it requires you taking out the transponder(spelling?) from the original key and putting it in the new key assembly.

I think if you search "flex" key, you can find that silver key thingy.

Not for our car. TLs and TSXs yea, but not the CL. He'll cut and mill the key though.

the transponders wont transfer over on the heeltoe keys. basically the only thing they'll do is open the door.

Yeah I realize it's ugly, but my current remote is in pretty bad condition, and I stumbled upon that, seemed interesting if the buttons actually worked along with it being a switchblade. Oh well, I'll stick to the regular remote for now

^ same key that I was talking about. Was ~25 dollars online, but it feels cheap. You basically dissect your old FOB and put the circuit board inside that. And you have to get the transponder from inside your key, so that you can start the car with this. I think if you search "FLEX KEY" with acura or honda, you will come across that key on ebay.
