I was going through the drive thru at mcdonalds to get my MEAL on... lol and i heard a tick, coming from the underneath of the car right behind where the driver sits.

I heard this can be related to the purge solenoid somehow??

anyways the noise went away.. it's done that 3 or 4 times now and i'd like to know wtf it might be... can anyone help me out?

 

I have a tick coming from right in front of me under the hood I know exactly where it is but have no idea what it is I can see it sounding like it was coming from under the car

 

that's the purge solenoid...by the firewall. it is related to my issue of the ticking under the car behind the drivers seat... the evap canister or something...

someone plz correct me

 

How much is that to replace and does it cause any problems if I le ave it moneys tight , new tranny(thats what I thought it was But wasnt sure , thanks)

 

no no...not tranny related at all no worries... it's a common issue

I wouldn't worry about it too much. it seems to tick more when it's cold (during winter months) and then it's fine when it's warmer. you can change it and it's $30-$40 at the dealer I believe. I just let it go and don't even notice it anymore.

 

I think ill wait untill the summer if I do change it

yea i know it talks about both noises... my solenoid makes the noise slightly, but underneath the car makes a noise also only a few times (goes away when i drive, and begin when i am stopped for 30secs to a min and car is fully warm)... RANDOMLY.. and i BELIEVE it is due to the purge solenoid INTERMITTENTLY not working (someone please chime in cause I am making an assumption). I do not know what is in fact causing the click/tick underneath the car by my ass... but I would love if SOMEONE who did could enlighten me PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

i don't like problems... at all, and i keep my car in super top notch shape, cause I'm all about the reliability now, power second, looks third.

 

could be exhaust leak. I had that happen when my flex section on the stock downpipe was leaking. you have comptechs though, however the leak could be somewhere else. get it on the hoist and check it out.

 

no, its the purge solenoid. Mines been ticking for a while, it doesnt hurt anything. if your got enough dough and its annoying enough, then you can change it.

 

lol you don't understand there is a black canister looking thing that ticks sometimes which is located right behind the drivers seat under the car, it's blaitently in from of you if you get on the ground and look.

when it was making the sound i waked it and the sound changed as i did it. so i know what it was

anyone know what that black looking canister thing is?

i dunno if its related but i think its the evap canister. just leave that stuff be. its emissions related and you'll know when it goes bad
