To Sway or not to Sway?......

That's the question. I've searched every nook and cranny of this site and heard a lot of pros with a few cons. How many of you have noticed a bumpier ride? I put sways on a Prelude and it rode like crap. They were ST sways though that were like 1 1/4 inch solid. I would get the Comptechs if I get some. Is the handling really that good? I have Comptech springs with Koni yellows right now and the handling/ride is awesome. Sometimes it feels like it could be a bit tighter/flater especially with the summer rubber on. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Yeah I'm about 93% sure I want to get them. I just don't want to have a choppy ride over bumpy pavement. (The roads suck here in Cols) What does the difference in ride feel like compared to just springs and Konis?

If you aren't experiencing a choppy ride with your springs and shocks, I can't imagine that Comptech sways will have that effect. What you will notice is a lot less body lean in cornering.

I ahve Eibach sways. Best mod in this car next to a suspension. Really night and day difference. Not choppy or bumpier ride here.

I got sways on my 2001 CL-S when it was about a year old. Really liked the improvement in handling. Took them off and went back to stock (2) months later. They DO change the ride quality. Like I have said before, the CL-S is a neat car, but a sports car it is not. Enjoy it for what it is and if you need/want better handling, get something that is not FWD with 63% of the weight over the front wheels.

Dan,

Did you have the Comptech sways or another brand? Did you have the stock springs and/orshocks?

To lower or not...that is the question!

If you plan on lowering your ride with some sport springs, GET THOSE CT SWAYS! They will match up with the springs very well giving you awesome handling.

BUT, if you don't plan on lowering your ride (leaving it OEM stock spring setup), then the CT sways are pretty lame. I have that setup now in my 03 and I'll tell you first hand it's not that noticeable...OTOH, my 01 with the CT springs AND CT sway setup was fantastic!

This car is a boat..but it can be saved a bit of misery when you have BOTH CT SPRINGS AND SWAYS installed.

Yeah I have Comptech springs and Konis now. I'm thinking the sways will be the icing on the cake. I ordered them last night. Thanks guys I just needed a little extra push to go for it.

Think of it this way. The stiffness that sways will add will "feel" like adjusting your koni's by half a turn. But they will ACCOMPLISH a great deal more than that.

So if you put them on, you can loosen your Koni's a bit and have a killer ride.

After tires, sways are THE best suspension mod no if's and's or buts.

Do it!!!!!

CT Springs/Sways and Konis... the only way to go... IMHO

But then you will want stickier tires too...

You're going to love the improved handling. But you will notice road imperfections a little bit more, especially if you hit a pothole, bump, manhole, etc. with one side the car. The bars try to compensate and the other side becomes a bit unsettling but only for a brief moment. The pros far outweigh the cons. I love the Comptech ones on my car.
