I have the spacer ring, just did't get it in the pic. That is the stock boost pulley. If I remember correctly,the aluminum one is 3.550 O.D. at the grooves. The valley of the grooves have a flat cut in the bottom of them to match up with the Gator belt better. It's supposed to help to keep the belt from slipping. The aluminum pulley weighs in at 1/2 lb., compared to the 1 1/2 lb. on the stock steel boost pulley.

wait, 3.55 is not right,.....I think it was .550 larger than the stock boost pulley.

I guess it is the stock one.

I just looked at my old picture and recall the sizing:

I think they made it the same size as the Comptech high boost pulley. Without accurate tools, I measure 3 3/16" at the top of the grooves.

That is still 0.100 larger, which would probably amount to 0.5 PSI more than the Comptech high boost pulley.

Final thoughts before install

Car is going in on the 10th! I'm really excited to get it going. So, to those who have done it all ready, anything you wish you did different? I'm going with the UR Ultra Sc crank instead of the UR Ultra S underdrive crank and keeping the stock Comptech pulley. I will definately unplug the IMRC. Any thoughts on wiring the relay and heavier guage wiring to the fuel pump? or :thumbsdn: ? If so, what would the specifics of the relay and wiring be? I'd like to get that part done, if you recommend, while the sub box is out. It is a pain in the #$% to undo. Thanks! -Steve

Don't worry about the fuel pump right now. It isn't a concern at this level or for anything currently available.

Have fun!!!

Eric & I

We sort of hashed out the idea last night while speaking on the phone...

Thinking of removing the ICEBOX and using a CAI with a K&N filter on the end...( I hate that foam crap)... I want a better filter... We need to find out how much air travels through both.

I think the car will be louder and get better air induction than sucking air through that canister...

Like the title says...:"Supercharger Thoughts"

Feedback.......... insert below..

Smitty

p.s. I think this will be my next project after the exhaust work... I will get piping made so it is a direct bolt on.... then I will get one made with the I.C.

But what about the issue with warm, underhood air?? You don't want to start with 140 F air, compress it and end with 300 F air.

It will be just like the Injen CAI... dip down right behind the Dumbie fog light bezel, instead of pulling air from the bottom of the canister through the filter and then through the muti-piece plumbing.... Going to make it 1 piece with 3 smooth bends and a nice K&N at the end of it..

Ah, I have never been a fan of foam filters. They normally don't flow as well and have less surface area than for the same size K&N.

Yes he was, but I am looking to do it without the IB canister while trying to fish it down behind the fog/bumper

Yes, I just can't get the lid off now to find out the correct size. I'll need to cut or drill out the screws at they are just turning but not backing out. I beleive the inserts are turning.

Steve,

I sent a note to Comptech asking if they knew the K&N replacement filter for the Icebox's Comptech foam filter.

Here is Comptech's answer: "We use the same filter that we offer for 94-01 Integra intake - You can look it up on K&N's website for their part number."

The K&N part number on K&N's website is KN E-2427.

You can see a picture of the Integra's direct replacement filter at:
http://www.optauto.com/webstore/prod...3059&last=3059

My Icebox is still on back order from Comptech. Hopefully they have corrected the screw problem. I plan on replacing the foam filter when I install.

It's starting to cool off here in Chicago...

Later

Thanks Dennis, but I beleive Comptech got it wrong or misunderstood. Here are the measurements:

F = Inlet Diameter = 4-3/16 in.
L = Filter Length = 7 in.
D = Base Diameter = 5-1/2 in.

Look at the filter inlet diameter, right near the middle of the selection range. K&N says you can only stretch it 1/16 in. but I have gone a little more before and it is a small 4-3/16 in.; closer to 4-1/8 in. Or I may go up to the 4.5 in. and use a rubber seal as a spacer.

Shit I would think it would be better to go bigger and then reduce it with a spacer... ... I think of it as the whole principle of sucking air through a straw... I would think I would want a McDonalds straw over a Burger King straw ....
Have you even noticed how big them McDonalds straws are?

.. anyways, you get my point... I hope

As long as the 6 1/2" base fits in the box,....unless you're going to snake it into the fender, then just get the biggest mothafokka you can!

Now lets do some searching and find out how many CFM's get pulled through that C/T crappy foam filter...

I seriously think that this filter is what is giving me my hesitation/blimping problem.

Seems like one of those FIPK kits has a y-pipe with two large filters on it. Stick that sucker in the fender, snake a large diameter pipe to the "bored by kingmotorsports" throttle body, and away ya go.
