Subwoofer volume control

i am going to install an amp and subwoofer this week. just wondering if anyone who's done this, is there a way i can control the volume of the sub from inside the passenger cabin. i did some search in this forum and someone mentioned that he had an alpine sub volume controller. i tried to do a search on the internet but couldn't find such a control. is there a volume control switch i can hook up to my amp?

Yeah, you should be able to buy a volume controller for your sub. I think it could cost about $50, depending on the make. What kinda of an amp?

The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

it's an mtx amp....an older model...just to fill the lower sound a little bit. bridged, i think it's 150watts. Big_Pimp's_Type_S, do you know where i could purchase or inquire about this volume control. i went to circuit city the other day and salesperson said there was no such thing.

My crossover came with a sub control that you can mount in the front of your car. Works great.

what kind of crossover do you have, webtoker. i've been searching on the net and most of the sub crossovers i've seen do not have volume controls on them...just the frequency cutoff. the ones i've seen with volume controls are the six channel ones. that's not really what i'm looking for. all i need to control is the sub. thanks for any input.....

Could I connect the stock radio to an EQ, placed out of sight, with 3 sets of pre-amp outputs (front, rear, and subwoofer) and still control the cabin speakers with the fader and balance controls on the stock radio while adjusting the subwoofer volume with the subwoofer level control on the EQ? Would this setup bypass the bass and treble settings on the stock radio?

i don't think it will affect the base and treble controls on the stock stereo. but, i believe, in order to connect an eq to our system, you need line converters and that usually produces hiss....based on my experience. that's the reason why i'm looking for a control for the sub only.

What I am buying is a Audio Control 3.1. You can control the bass, and also the sound. You can get it for 230 online. Its more expensive then just the sub control, but i think it will be worth it fo rme since I am upgrading my interior speakers

well.....i decided to upgrade my amp...so to speak. i decided to get the mtx that has the remote subwoofer volume control (thunder 4250D). cost about $100 dollars more than what i had planned to spend on a sub amp but i think i've decided on redoing the entire system...from changing the bose amp to all the speakers. i'll probably do it this weekend!!!

Well if you change your mind about the control thing you can get one thru crutchfield. I saw it said it was for controling a bazooka amplified bass tube but it might work for you. Im not sure all it says is "Adjust the volume from your dash with the optional wired remote bass control module." Its only $39.95 but like i said im not sure it would work for you but you might want to check it out. Im sure if you call them they can tell you more.

If you really want it and have the gut to disemble your amp, you can customize one ...
I'll it in a near future. Will post the result.
