Stuck in the Snow

Anyone else with an 01 Cl-S having trouble driving in snow? I go to Indiana University and I got stuck 5 times on Sunday. And I can barely move when there's snow on the ground. After a while of driving, in the snow, my "VSA exclamation point" just stayed on. Even when the car was stopped. Anything I can do to make driving in the snow easier?

snow tires, snow tires, snow tires

Doesnt matter if you have FWD, RWD, AWD. You need the right tires!

The thing is I drove through the mountains and snow of Colorado a month ago. I just dont understand how I can't drive in this crap now. But I plan on switching my tires as soon as I have the cash. Since I drove the car from SoCal, I would imagine they are sport tires. There aren't words to describe how pissed i've been the last week when I've been stuck in snow, but Geo Metro's are flying by me.

Mine did fine on the stockies...just gotta be careful. Even with snow tires, you get 8 or so inches, run in a small drift, etc & you're gonna get stuck.

No, I know what he's talking about, even the smallest amount of snow and your tires just spin... It's sooo frustrating.. I'm assuming from looking at mine that the snow is packing inside the treads and is not coming out.. I can't wait to get these new ones on so i can drive somewhat normal..

The stock tires suck ass. I hate them with a passion. When they wear out, I'm burning them.

I got stuck 4 times on my DRIVEWAY in the past 2 days. Lowered with a kit. What was I thinking, in MICHIGAN? D'OH!!

That's one of the reasons why my CLS is still riding at the stock 4x4 height

I still have the stock tires (w/ 17K miles), but I've got a 6spd, so the manual helps in the snow (if you know how to use it).

You get what you pay for with those tires.

First problem is you go to IU. Purdue is a MUCH better school.

With that said, tires and a bit of patience are all you need. The stock Michelins suck (as already stated). Also, I don't know if you grew up or are familar with snow-driving conditions but you just need to be patient, ease the gas down and take your time. I know Bloomington is a bit hilly...

i've seen a lot of people say the stock tires were good in the snow. They sucked for me. I used to start sliding sideways anytime i even tapped the gas, even trying to pull into my garage which has like a 3 inch incline, had to be pushed in. This year i got some blizzaks and it made a world of difference. On ice, you are gonna spin no matter what, but on that soft powder snow, you tear right through it. Your car has the weight, just need the right shoes. After all, you wouldn't want to play baseball with running sneakers would you? Need some cleats.

I'm still on the stock tires and the CL handles great in the snow if you drive at a normal rate.

I tried to drive carefully. I'm used to driving in snow, but I couldn't handle this recent storm. And it's not like i was getting stuck in a ditch. I was getting stuck on the damn road in 2 inches of snow.

Also, the VSA light came on, but the check engine light didn't. I turned the car off and turned it back on and the VSA light was off. So I guess I fixed it.
