Stock vs Changing the Whole Face?

I am contemplating on:

1) Getting a DVD Player w/ LCD screen combo (probably Alpine, Clarion, or Pioneer)

The thing is, I like the whole stock look with the climate control located on top and the Stock bose CD/Radio face.

Is there any way I can use the little coin holder section between the climate control and the stock CD/Radio face for a single din? I don't think that is possible, so I guess I will have to change the whole front...

2) The Stock Navigation built in? hmmm...another option but sounds kind of pointless....right?

What will you do with yours?

I was doing some more searches on what to, and I am re-thinking on the navigation. I do not really need one and I do not want to get dependent on it!
But, its a nice option and convenience to have one.

I definitely want a LCD screen mounted on the center console of the dash, which probably means I will have to change the whole boss stock face to doing this procedure. This will leave me with one additional single din that needs to be filled with something I think..?

I will need a new plastic/or some sort of material to cover around the face part of the DVD/LCD mount.

I've seen flip out screens in that note holder area. There's actually a thread on it. Probably in the A/V section.

Ryan, you should post those pics of yours to show him what an in-dash screen looks like in the center console. I'd do it for you but I'm too lazy.... You do have one of the better lookig aftermarket setups I've seen in all honesty.

i swapped out my whole bose unit for an in-dash kenwood unit. bought the custom mold from streeteffectz. it also has optional navi inpput. this is way better than stock, you don't be disappointed.

I have an Alpine CVA-1005 head-unit and Alpine EQ where my stock radio used to be. It looks pretty good.

I can keep my whole stock Boss face, and add a flip out screen in between the Climate Control system and the Stock face?

Chris, I think I know what you are talking about. I have seen the in-dash mounted screen. I rather have a flip-out screen, and PICS are always good.

Ravin, That was actually something I was thinking about. The LCD flip out and the equalizer would fill up the whole front.

Clean CL, was it fairly easy to install the Kenwood face and the custom molding? Or did you have a professional install it for you?

I installed it myself, the hardest part was mounting the unit. i had to drill my own mounting holes. but i found where to drill no problem with a little help from the av section. here is my setup:

That looks really nice. Who makes the trim piece? It looks like it matches the rest of the black portion of the dash exactly.

Very Nice Clean CL!

I was looking through the A/V postings, and I came across same set up like yours.

www.streeteffectz.com/kenwoodacuradash

What Type of Head Unit are you holding?

I want the LCD screen to be a little higher, but that might interfere with the Climate Control Panel.

Hmmmm...There are so many ways you can go!

I have the kenwood 7017. They will all pretty much fit in there. That link above is the exact people I got the insert from. Yea its alost perfect, I couldnt be happier. Only problem is you need to glue it in place. But i used a glue I could remove if necessary, not a big deal. I'm pretty sure streeteffectz will also sell you a custom molded metra kit so that you dont need to worry about glue and mounting holes, but the fiberglass mold I have looks the best IMHO.

The Cusom molded fiberglass kit looks awesome! The color matches exactly the same with the rest of the black.

Do you miss the 5 disc changer on the stock???

I will miss it if I change my stocks. Of course I can get a separate CD-Changer on the side, but that is extra $$$ just for that.

I just remembered, I posted this awhile back. Some of the pics are missing now but there's still a few. You can always contact the members through it regardless.

I'd be willing to bet if you PM'd NiteQwill or did a search for his username, he'd send you some pics or you'd find some.

Blk, sucks to hear that!

I agree with Chris, the stock looks a lot better then a single din HU.

IMHO I would like to keep everything stock, and somehow still add another single din HU.
