Stock Shift Knob

Has neone ever tried removing a stock shift knob and replacing it with an aftermarket one say a MOMO....if it can be done how do i do it and is there ne stipulations on the new shift knob i can buy....thanks...Tom

i did it. just gotta twist it. i replaced mine with a spiffy momo shift knob. i had to improvise though because it wasn't tight enough and would move around. i just used a little super glue and it doesn't move at all now.

Which way do i twist though??? towards the passanger door or my door???

are you talking about the front of the knob or the rear of the knob?

What do u mean front of the knob or rear of the knob.....see what i want to do is take off the whole stock shift knob and replace it with a MOMO one...

Sweet...IMO stock knob looks best. Now if you could clear it out and put a light in it...

Is it the same idea on the 1st Gen CLs? The leather on the stock shift knob is starting to fade (this is an automatic knob). All I have to do is screw it off, but will a MOMO shift knob work?

The MOMOs will fit with the aid of rubber spacers that come in the box. The one I have (or had) came with them and the screws also made it fit nicely. Of course, the design may vary with different knobs. I definitely suggest seeing/trying them out at your local shop before buying one.
