you guys just need this

to fit inside the pulley

wrench with 19mm socket
and two extension bars lift and two other guys to help

that is the way i did that cuz my mechanic wasnt able to take the bolt off with his gun

3/4" impact works better, i bent one of those before, trying to get a crank bolt off (the cheater bars did not help ethier which is why it bent in the first place, just too much torque for it to handle, cause the bolt was so tight)

srsly i went to like three shops they couldnt take it off with their guns i was afraid to use crank method cuz that can damage your starter
a good wrenches and extension bars it must come off
may be mine was more tight than yours idk

borrowed, so your own air compressor, was it a large enough of one, with enough CFM airflow (or a very large tank), so that you could really take full advantage of the 3/4" impact

btw iirc it was on a J35 in a 01 honda oddyessy, that the holder bent on

what where the size of the airlines also, cause that can also restrict the airflow to the impact, and not let it work to it's full potential

a 3/4" needs alot of air flow to work to it's full potential

x2, especially when they are siezed in there and have to be cut/drilled out, or you snapped the head off instead of getting the bolt out as wanted (suspension bolts are the worst)

Also some BMW crank bolts are supposidy worse then ours with no access even for an impact

Qucik question before I install my pulleys... Can you over tighten the belts? I don't want to leave them loose and have them snap and bend valves.

lol dont worry thats drive belt. it turns AC water pump and steering wheel pump. is not a timing belt.

U can olny over tighten the ps pump belt and that will cause a whining noise bc the brearing are shot. I just installed the option pulley last weekend and the rpm fly up now

I am installing the light weight pulleys (set of 3), so I'm just making sure I don't mess anything up.

The water pump is driven off the timing belt, not the accessory belt.

just throwing this out there.....im sure its been posted before, but since it was brought up. This is how i removed mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE-pzP8g_x4 worked like a charm. If you dont want to worry about damaging your starter, and an impact doesnt work, this is how to do it. (not my video)

thats the "right" way of doing it. i just feel that pulling the fuel pump fuse and giving it two short burst (or one) is much faster and easier than setting up all the tools then using ur muscles get it loose. done the starter method 3 or 4 times and works every time.

no doubt the starter method is probably a little bit quicker and is just as effective. If you use a long enough cheater bar though, you wont have to really use any muscle.

this was just another way of doing it without risking damage to the starter.

so from reading this thread i shouldnt get this pulley because i have a sound system that pulls way too much power. would this still work if i switch my alternator to the auto and get a bigger capacitor?
