Still no 2003’s on the lot ???

I called my dealer yesterday and they haven’t taken delivery of any 2003 CL’s yet.
They’re still telling me that mine will be here the third week of March, but I’m starting to wonder.

Has anyone else checked with their dealers ???
Any “insider” info from our friendly Acura employee board members ???

these guys just don't get it ....

.... an occasional phone call to people who have one allegedly "reserved" would create some real good will.

Hearing NOTHING is worse than "it's a little slower than we expected"

Appreciate any additional updates or news on this item.

My local dealer Briunswick Acura tells me that they are coming in 2 weeks. And they sold 4 of their 5, 6 speeds already.

What I’m worried about is I have a “blank check” from my Credit Union and it’s only good through March 28th.
It’s printed right across the top of the check.
I don’t want to apply for the loan again and I don’t know if they can extend the deadline without a TON of paperwork.

Not to mention another few weeks of throwing Holy Water on my Slush-Box so it doesn’t DIE on me.

None at Radley Acura

I stopped by Radley Acura in the DC area yesterday (2-25). None there and no word of when.

I swung by Acura of Bellevue yesterday thinking I may catch a glimpse of the new '03 up in the hidden back lot, but to no avail. I saw the RSX a few days prior to it's 'claimed' arrival. I'll keep my eyes open though....VERY curious.

Did sit in a brand new NSX...... Aegean Blue......

*checks date*

Gee, it's the 26th of February. Someone needs to relax.
I wouldn't expect your car to be on the lot more than a day or two before the date they told you (third week in March). And considering yours is a pre-order, yours should be one of the first to arrive.

It's way too early right now for '03s to be on the lot yet. Relax.

A little history........

I placed an order in early December for a RED CL w/NAV.

After seeing the photos from the LA auto show that the body didn’t change much I switched the color from RED to BLUE.

At this time they told me that the RED one would be arriving early to mid February.
(Checks calendar) That was two weeks ago.
They also said that because I changed the color mine would be delayed a MONTH.
(Checks Calendar again) that’s mid March.

(Checks Calendar again) Hey, we’re running TWO weeks late.

Ah okay. Well maybe the red ones all fell off the barge but the blue ones are still on track for mid-March. Keep your hopes up.

Barge ???
You don’t need a “barge” to get from Ohio to Pennsylvania.

I like your way of thinking though.

ETA: Next Week

I talked with my salesman last night. He said my car was "on the truck" and expected to arrive either late this week or next week.
Interestingly, he said they still don't have the official CL prices yet.

Just trying to distract you from thinking about your blue pre-ordered CL-S falling off the back of the Ro-Ro ship docked in Port Columbus, Ohio.

so what happens if the cars come in before official pricing?? they hold the cars hostage??

i say if they don't have official pricing, the customers make their own prices!!! out of sympathy, pain & suffering, i'd give the dealership a few hundred bahaha

Shawn, I wouldn't worry if your check expires. Credit unions are usually pretty easy to work with. I'm sure as long as you show them a pay stub to show you still have a job, they'll give you another 30 days easily.

I have a $1000 deposit on a 6-speed CL in Anthracite w/Navi. Stopped by the dealership today and was told by Gen Mgr. it's coming in March 6th. Official MSRP for 6-speed w/Navi is $33,700. Not sure though what MSRP is for the 6-speed w/o Navi. Hope this helps.

wow $33,700 is a lot of money!!!!

but i guess since people were paying roughly $32K with NAV when the '01's came out, then maybe it's a little more justified, but still, too much IMO!!! not when i paid almost $4K less for mine...and a $4K stick is not worth it, not for the CL, M3, M5, or any other car...period!! of course, that's my opinion.

Funny how no other salesmen for the other people who have one ordered knows this ....im not saying its not true, but just strange that you know and everyone else doesent.....i personaly dont beleve anything till i see it for my self. If that is true, 6 speed non navi should be 31500.

Believe it or not, I saw the Gen Mgr's invoice that he got straight from the manufacturer. The invoice listed all the CL 6MT's that he was getting for the month of March, including assembly date & MSRP. He's only getting 4 for March, and mine is one of them. The one I have the deposit on is being assembled on March 4th, will be on the truck the 5th, and guaranteed in his dealership either the 6th or 7th (baring weather of course). And just so you know, I called him again today, and Navi actually went down in price for the '03's. It's an $1800 option, not a $2200 option anymore. Not bad considering it comes with OnStar now! So anyways, the MSRP for the 6MT w/o Navi is $31,900....Believe it or not.

if that's true .it just furthure supporst the claim that there's more to the 6mt than LAD and the tranny...a quaife LSD cost between 800-1200 dollars ..a manula trans cost 500-700 less than an auto the two should offset but if they want 1300$+/- more than somethings up...

But remember that there's R&D associated with the manual that must be amortized over a small number of cars sold. Also, I'm sure Acura is playing the game of milk the early adopters. Dealers are free to sell at any price the want once the buzz dies down and there's always incentives and credits that aren't seen on the invoice price. I hope so. Because I don't want to pay almost $34k + tax for a car.

I guess 01 CLS with NAV were $32,800 with destination charge.
So, Assuming your $31,900 + $1,800 + $450 = $34,150 or $1,350 more... Some $$$$ to cover 6-speed R&D cost.

Also - let's please don't let Acura/Honda convince us that this 6-speed was only made for the 03 CLS 6MT ... I know they like the CLS owners and all but ...

Expect to see the same 6MT on the Accord "real soon" is my guess.

The CLS price seems high to me for the 6MT ... but what do I know ... I bailed on mine that was on order and got an RSX-S

agreed!!

i simply cannot find any justification in that price!! Acura must've found this board and realized we can shelve out lots of money!!

even $32,800 was a bit steep back then, which is prob y some people got some really great deals at around $31K with NAV if they waited.

it's funny...under NORMAL circumstances, u'd get charged $750-$1,000 for an automatic tranny since stick was stock...Acura has now done it backwards (among other things they do!!)

I’ve been offline all day.
This is sure interesting reading on this price issue on the 03’s.

As for the cheaper NAV price listed above, I’m pretty sure that is wrong.
The 03 TL’s have the NAV listed at 2150 so I’m sure the CL will be this price too.

I’ll pay it, but I think Acura would be really shooting themselves in the foot if they price the 6-Speed higher then the AUTO without offering much more in the performance dept.

Agreed....

I stopped by the Acura dealership this week and got the same info on the 6 speed. It is to be delivered to all Texas Dealerships on March 6th. They are currently sitting somewhere in houston waiting for delivery to dealerships. San Antonio is getting 3, all without navi for the first order. This info came from the "head guy" who was looking at some sheets that had all of his manufacturing orders for the next 2 months.

O' by the way, Shawn, don't forget I've got first dibs on your blue 6 speed baby when the 3rd gen CL comes out!
