Re: STi vs z06 Videos
my buddy's c5 with bolt-ons runs 12.4 in the quarter at 116mph and would rape the hell out of a stock WRX/STi/Evo etc.
Btw, that STi with a WRX trunk is money. That's exactly what I'd do if I got one.

As drag racing my 73' Camaro is my passion listening to you all comparing apples to oranges is hilarious! First it has to be clear when either stock or modified! No base Vette or Subaru will run anywhere close to 9's unless they are heavily modified! Yes, a stock STI will beat Zo6 off the line only cause of better traction due to AWD. The Zo6 will spin stock radials with all that power, but put on slicks and then difference would turn in Zo6 favor. Yes you can tell a difference in a LS1 and LS6 if you can tell the difference in 100hp! LS1 has .500 lift cam and LS6 a .550 so would have the lopier sound and the titanium exhaust that Scalbert mentioned would definitely make it sound different! One reason that I liked the old IROC Nascar series, the cars were virtually identical, only difference was the drivers-LOL! So is everyone on the same page now?!

Thanks for providing your in depth and extensive knowledge based on experience. :P
Actually, we know little about this so-called race. It does not appear that the Z06 was racing but we can't be sure. But for the completely ignorant comments about American cars; please do some research before providing these pathetic statements.
True, it doesn't take a huge engine to get streetable HP. But it does help and allows for more room to grow. And actually, the 5.7L (currently 346ci ??) motor is not too big in comparison with engines of the past. Remember, the Z06 makes 405 HP which is greater than what even the STi makes at 300HP and it is doing it NA. So where does this "all american cars have are big engine with less hp output" come from when the Z06 makes 34% more power and is hardly stretched??
BTW, the domestics have been making smaller motors with decent HP output for some time. In the mid to late 80's GM had an 180HP DOHC I4 motor which didn't rely on VTEC, VVTL-i or similar technologies to make its power. And it made decent torque too. It wasn't as refined as some today but it was fifteen years earlier.
Lastly, forced induction isn't new either and the domestics dabbled in it too. In the mid 80's Ford had a turbo 4 cylinder Mustang (the SVO) which although it wasn't as popular it could run well. Take the GN/T-Types of the mid 80's, a Turbo V6 motor that could easily make 500 - 600 WHP without opening the engine and still had low end power.
So before making asinine statements you may want to do some research first.
